Furniture for a modern kitchen - any idea?
Comments (24)I agree made.com is a good option, both for table/chairs and for a corner sofa which is the style I'd go for - modern, good way to 'zone' space, neat and comfy. The mendini was my favourite for style and comfort. Or Venturi though this was a bit bigger I think. Percy are lovely dining chairs, though Ikea now have similar & tables too so worth checking also. Too much choice sometimes....See MoreIdeas for kitchen design, please
Comments (32)Hi. That door doesn't actually seem to let in much light and the current worktop and units aren't bouncing a lot of light so I'm wondering if you need a window once the wall is down? What if you extended the FF run to the end of that run adjacent to the oven and had mirrored backed shelves within a cabinet? (Hope that makes sense!)I think the light units will make a huge difference anyway and you can add a large mirror opposite the patio doors. I agree with the earlier comment re extending the peninsula under the 2nd window. I love banquettes so might lose the sofa in favour of! Here's a link. It's a way off but as you have so many doors I'd paint them all in the wall colour so they blend in. I'd also integrate all the appliances if possible http://www.angelandboho.com/dining-banquettes--chairs-305-c.asp...See MoreKitchen ideas please!!
Comments (6)I think that the fashion is for open kitchens with a connection to the outside so you might explore if this room could be knocked into a room next door. If you post a plan of the house you will likely get some suggestions you had not considered. If you want to keep the space as is then you probably just need a lighter kitchen. The wood finish combined with a cathedral arch on the cabinet doors betrays their age but the floor and worktop does not. As a short term refresh you could have these cabinets painted and I would choose a lighter colour such as a soft white, or a warm neutral. When you do come to replace your kitchen your cabinet choice depends on your personal taste, any things that you have to work with and how big the space is..... for instance lots of sleek handleless designs have horizontal lines and drawers- you can only accommodate and appreciate this in a larger space. If you do knock this kitchen through to another room then you will also need to consider the furniture and the floor you want in their- if your taste is comfortable and homely then a sleek white kitchen may fight with this and you may prefer a cabinet door that looks more like furniture and then choose a colour to match. The photos section of Houzz has lots of inspiration....See MoreProtecting a light-coloured fabric sofa - any ideas please?
