Kitchen / sunroom walls?
Comments (4)Personally I would paint the splash back area that's presently a yellowy tone in a white to blend with the tiles (even a greyish white for a subtle contrast). Then paint the other walls in a slightly darker version of either the grey/pale blue etc you have in mind, but keep the colour on the grey side, don't go for baby blue. That would be really neutral and you could layer other colours on top. ...or go with more of a duck egg colour. My favourite duck egg (and I've tried F&B, Dulux, Crown, Laura Ashley...) is Craig & Rose's Porcelain Blue. Like F&B colours, it changes in the light. Sometimes nearly white, sometimes deeper, sometimes more blue, sometimes green, sometimes heading towards a greyer duck egg but always warm and bright. It works really well with all wood, creams, whites, and greys ... Anything, really. Currently contemplating putting it into an all white room with red accents, I know it'll work just as well there!...See MoreNew sun room design
Comments (3)I think the silver is more practical in that it's neutral so you can change accessories to whatever colour you want and less dominating but the Heather is a warmer colour. You could always go silver for the sofa (with some Heather for the cushions) and Heather for the accent chairs? If you want a cosy feel add cushions, table and floor lamps and I'd go for wood for the furniture. I'm not sure on the size of the room but a rug will also help, if the room isn't huge just go for a light grey textured rug....See MoreSunroom and sliding door blinds
Comments (3)Hi Jennifer, Great question - firstly, I don't think that two different types of blinds will necessarily look odd, but it's a case of carefully matching them. However, I'm not sure panel blinds will have the desired effect of controlling the heat in a south-facing room. You say you have looked at PerfectFit blinds - these types of blinds can be made with honeycomb Pleated fabrics which help to control temperature extremes. Our ThermaShade Pleated fabrics are just like this. Read a little bit more about them here http://www.hillarys.co.uk/blinds-range/pleated-blinds/ Pleated blinds have the added advantage of folding up really small. Alternatively, you could try Roman blinds, but these have a deeper stack at the top of the window when closed. Hope that helps, Zoe...See MoreRenovation of Conservatory/Sun room
Comments (16)Thanks Jonathan So for me it will be Essential 1) Strip the whole house down 2) Then rewiring 3) Heating, radiators and combi boiler 4) Replace conservatory roof, with a better, all year round roof 5) Take down the wall between the kitchen and diner, to create an open diner. Insert a RSJ in place of the original wall 6) New kitchen, designed and provided by Wren ( yes I know, loads of negative comments) with 0% finance and a promise of 20 years guarantee from Wren, to repair/replace any damages. From all my google searches, it seems that a kitchen depends more on the fitter than the material used. A great fitter would even make Wren look good! 7) Skirting and internal doors. 8) New flooring all through the property, carpets in lounge and bedrooms 8) Decoration and painting ------------------------------------ Non essential or second round, if I am still standing!! a) Utility room b) Bathroom c) Upgrade conservatory, windows etc Seems like a plan?...See MoreCarolina
