If the TV is opposite a door with glass then I guess at some point during the day you will get a reflection or glare. It’s best avoided if you have an alternative option but what are you having on the sliding doors in the way of curtains/blinds?

I think you're right to move the kitchen into the new extension. You can close off the living area with a stud wall or I've seen some half walls with sliding window partitions that allow in light and the ability to open up the space whilst still remaining enclosed. If you want some flexibility, you could design the windows, services, UFH, flooring etc in a way that would allow you to easily add a stud wall to close off the snug/back lounge, if you decide the 'openness' doesn't work for you further down the line. I feel like you could make the middle room (anteroom) work harder by relocating some of the doorways from the hall. If you push back and rotate the toilet, the door wouldn't then open out to the front door and you claw back some breathing room at the immediate front entrance. You'd also have light and an open-able window in the utility/cloak area as well as more wall space for the sofa in the front lounge 1 = 100 x 60 x 200 wardrobe for cloak cupboard 2 = 40 x 60 x 200 cleaning cupboard

I'm good on ideas, but haven't got a clue about structurals or costs! I've found daydreaming doesn't cost a lot, except time.....    tab's idea to incorporate pillars into the kitchen would create the open kitchen diner and the pocket doors could be the way to keep the living seperate but together with the function area. Would be interested if it increases your cupboard space or if just opening a section provides more storage capacity.  Although the play area is part of the way of living presently, that time will pass so I would hesitate to put in a wall you may only want to remove later. An open divider, like an open shelf unit would allow you to keep the play area out of the visuals, then the space could move into a second 'gaming' area or study area as little ones get bigger

I have just bought a flat with an open plan living area, which I thought I didn’t like :) But fell in love with the windows and light of the space. The previous owner had a huge sofa which was partly in the kitchen and also not even looking at the nice view. The small window on the left above the radiator is SW facing so that’s where the sun will come round in the afternoon/ evening. Two of the large windows open up which I thought would be nice in summer. The other three on the right don’t and are just fixed. I am also not a fan of the TV on the wall. I would like a 3 seater and also a dinner table and chairs but doesn’t need to be round. Maybe a bench along the wall where the sofa is? Open to suggestions! I currently don’t have any furniture so it would be a completely blank canvas.
