I would go for greys and whites to give it a spacious feel. If light is an issue try elephants breath by F&B as it will warm the area. Remove all the paper and paint walls. I personally think the dado would look good in white and will match your doors. Panelling under the dado could also look good and wouldn't date. You could try a diy version as shown in pic as panelling is dear. The laminate in the hall looks good so would keep this and personally would go for a neutral colour on the stairs or even try a stripe. you could try blinds instead of curtains. I would also add a couple of big statement lights on the hall and landing. If you really want some wallpaper, then add a feature wall where the console table is or even at the top of the stairs to draw your eye upwards.

Hi, We have a small coat room, we will block of the understairs, just leaving access to the pipework for the UFH. We have painted the kitchen diner in, F&B Manor House. Grey, and the lounge Valspar shrouded lace, still want to go grey, but not sure how to do it. Thanks

You'll have to get a few tester pots to try around your hallway. Every colour of paint changes depending on which way the room faces and different light coming in. It sounds like you already have some great ideas! Half height panelling works well in long hallways, and is more practical than wallpaper as paint can be cleaned or touched up if it gets brushed against. A darker carpet or runner will define the floor and add height to the space, a shade that blends with the walls will add the illusion of width. A patterned carpet will help with flow and direction, which can make it feel more lively. Oversized art is always a nice touch to a smaller space (too many or too small and it can feel cluttered).
