Any help really appreciated!! Have read so many interesting posts and good ideas and advice on this app.
Can anyone help me with my dilemma re wallpapering and carpeting hall, stairs and landing??
Do I go for light or dark, above or below dado rail? Wallpaper patterned or subtle? Colours blue or red or cream? I have a lot of cream already in the house but I want a clean, spacious feel to hall and stairs and landing if poss. the house is only 25 years old but I added a dado rail years ago. Hoping to put vinyl flooring in hall instead of laminate to match kitchen. Red carpet or neutral on stairs and landing?
Big window at top of stairs, difficult to dress, as the bottom of the window sill isn't parallel to the stairs.
Currently walls have cream/yellow painted anaglypta. But all the wallpapers I like are £40+ a roll and i need 16 rolls so trying to cut down costs!

Comments (11)No expertise in this so it's just my opinion - have you considered changing your light bulbs to LEDs which you can get on the white light end of the spectrum - the natural light ones would make it less obvious that it was enclosed. The ones that fit into ordinary light sockets are relatively cheap now! The carpets are a great idea too but I appreciate that can be expensive (@Stairbox - your last picture is pretty much the same as the one I've just got and it did make the stairs feel much more exciting - white walls for light but interest on the floor). My other suggestion would be wall stickers - you've got some lovely blank spaces there - sometimes art can be expensive and if it's too wide it can feel like it's intruding in the hall space but wall stickers are cheap, flat and nobody would notice the stairs as they'd be too busy loving (or hating) your chosen images. Comments (30)It's a really lovely hall. Loving Carolina's suggestions. Also, do the doors have a threshold that you could temporarily remove and look under (then put back) to see the floor underneath (if you see what I mean)? That way you could find out fairly quickly if you had tiles or wood. @ E D - unfortunately they may do a good product but a web site that comes across as a dodgy spam site doesn't make anyone want to find out. :(...See More
