We have just purchased what we hope to be our last house. It is a very big plot and we are looking to knock down and get planning for a very large house over 4 floors. (12,000 sq ft). We know what we want internally however our issue lies with the external look and feel. My wife wants classic new build, with pillar entrance, sash box windows with stone cills or surroundings (Surrey Commuter belt!). I like contempory white, modern, square, glass walls, feature cladded walls with balconies (Beverly Hills!) Our compromise is classic at the front contempory at the rear. We need help! Hopeful designjunction will help offer solutions so we can move forward.

Buying a fireplace in haste will lead to multiple compromises. Since you aren’t reliant on the fireplace in summer, you can afford to shop around, with no pressure to buy quickly. Faster Lead times We have become accustomed to winter being our busiest period for fireplace sales and have the right facilities and experience on hand to cater for an increase in orders. however, as we do make fireplaces to order, lead times have been known to rise because of sheer volume of custom. This means you could wait longer from first consultation to installation if you decide to purchase well into winter. Convenience Any disruption and inconvenience of having workmen in your home is always easier to cope with in the summer. Firstly, you won’t be as reliant on your home space as you have option to spend your time outside. Also, you won’t be as reliant on heat as you are in winter, meaning you won’t suffer any chilly nights whilst the installation is underway.
