I would like to buy an island for my flat that I am renting.
Comments (1)We did this in a customer's house who hadn't enough work surface area. It worked out well and presented heaps of surface space. Contact a carpenter or joiner and ask them to make one. You could have the same finish as your other doors or a complete contrast. An easy job for them....See MoreDoes island kitchen layout work?
Comments (9)Thanks everyone for the helpful comments :) I probably should've explained that we have a separate lounge diner with a large table and chairs, so we want the table/seating in the kitchen to feel more relaxed and only for 4 people (but don't want it breakfast bar height). And in terms of the prep space I was thinking we would use the space next to the sink, immediately behind the hob - but maybe that wouldn't be practical? Our current hob is actually where you suggested J but I hate it there as when I'm chopping and cooking I've got my back to everyone sat at the table. We were hoping to create a combined space rather than have very distinct areas of kitchen and table, which it is currently. I quite like your alternative idea Jonathan, it's similar to the other option we're considering (but the hob and sink are swapped over)....See MoreDining room table made from same work top as the kitchen island
Comments (3)If you go for a quartz or other solid surface, then any fabricator should be able to do a table for you. You need to face the back with something, we used mdf when we did it, and attach legs of your choice. In laminate you would need to buy a breakfast bar type top and use edging strips on the ends, so would have width limitations....See MoreComplementary colour that goes with both F&B Railings and Down pipe?
Comments (14)It’s definitely a blue grey I would say. Board of samples from left to right pavilion grey, purbeck stone, moles breath, downpipe, and there is cornforth white on the panel behind the photo showing the floor....See More- 5 years ago
