Colours - its very monochromatic/coordinated.. (You've obv. worked hard to achieve that!).

I’d add a large rug to ‘ground’ your sofas, and a great piece of art to hang above the tv. The existing art would connect better with the room if it was hung a little lower. And a couple of orange cushions?

There's not enough mixing of the dark and light colours - all the walls and fireplace are light, everything else dark. Get more cushions that have a mix of light and dark to break up the dark mass of sofas/carpet - you have one that has some blue and white - you need more like this (but not all exactly the same as this one - but the same idea, a mix of the colours, with more of the lighter colours of the walls/fireplace) - I'd add in another accent colour in the cushions too, so some more blue/pale, some yellow/orange/whatever and pale, and at least one that has all of the colours (pale, blue, new accent colour and a touch of the dark sofa/carpet colours) to bring it all together. I'd also try and squeeze in a couple of small side tables to give somewhere to place a lamp/cup/glass - something with open legs rather than solid to the floor, so that they are visually light and break up the dark mass. I think it would also look more homely if that nice blue chair was facing into the room rather than in a line facing the TV, but I understand that it's a throughway to the garden and you probably use the room to watch TV - but if that chair isn't actually sat on for TV watching then move it to create a cosier seating area - I'd put a side table between that chair and the sofa for sure anyway.

I think your carpet is too dark and matches the sofa too much. The floor and dark sofas dominate the room. Feel like you just need some warmth in the room.

I’d put in a light coloured rug to zone the seating area and 1 or 2 small wooden side tables as others have suggested. Wood would bring in some warmth to the room.

I’d also mount the TV on the wall - get a wall bracket with an adjustable arm so you can angle the screen away from the window, and put some plants on the surface (Real or fake, just some greenery).

I can see you’ve papered the alcoves, have you considered painting the chimney breast in a strong colour? It would make a feature of the fireplace and your mirror. You could probably even go bigger on the mirror on the chimney breast.

I’d lower the art above the sofa so the top is in line with the door. It also matches your decor a bit too much, you might want to go for something framed and artwork with a bit more negative space.

If it was me I'd lower the artwork, I'd also make your little collage wall more central to your sofa but realise this might be a pain with fixing holes on your fresh paint (you could even expand it to give it symmetry with more pictures). Then I'd paint the chimney breast wall a rich teal like your chair (which is lovely BTW). I have a teal accent wall in my bedroom and absolutely love it, it makes me feel happy and my furniture really pops against it. I used dulux teal tension which is a ready mixed colour. I'd then throw in another accent colour like yellow or orange (I like yellow), add these in via more scatter cushions, I think your standing lamp would also really pop with an accent colour, I can imagine it looking really cool with a yellow shade on it. Your little lamp by the TV could also stand out more with another shade too. Then I'd possibly add a rug which is a lighter colour which breaks up the colour of your sofa to your floor and brings in the teal and accent colour. But it's got to be practical for you so I don't know if a lighter rug would be? Also, I can't really tell what's on your mantle from the photos but I'd perhaps declutter it a bit, obviously you want to keep what's meaningful to you but if not everything has to go on there I'd move some of it elsewhere.

As an easy and not too expensive change though I think a pop of an accent colour with cushions and the standing lamp shade would really liven it up, and that chimney breast wall painted teal would too.

I guess your living room may need a small coffee table with a light color like orange or pink. So that it will look more lively. And you can put some food on the table, so you can enjoy your food and the TV programs at the same time.

I don't normally like rugs on carpets, but as the carpet and sofa are both dark grey, I think a pale coloured rug would break it up and add interest. Nothing too busy, but definitely very light in colour. Perhaps a glass topped coffee table on top of the rug to finish it off.

Love your armchair! Why not try position it so it's not hiding behind the end of the sofa? Some other textures might lift the scheme you've worked hard for - a , fluffy cushions. You could also add some plants hanging in a corner/on a shelf to lift the eye and give height. A coffee table/pouffe with a serving tray might add a touch of luxe too. Agree with orange suggestion above too x

I agree with angling the the armchair to face into the room more. Also, plants & colourful cushions to brighten things up.

Your room looks lovely and calm. Perhaps being with the room all the time (if you know what I mean) you are too familiar with it and don't see it as others do. Hope that makes sense.

I like the colours. It's calming and relaxing. You might want to add a coffee table as a centre piece to bring it all together. A nice rug, would also complement. A few pot plants, perhaps, and maybe a few carefully selected cream patterned scatter cushions, will add some texture to the overall look.

I haven't had time to read all the above comments but it's definitely missing a rug. It's a lovely designed space and really well done on both layout and colour choices. You just need something to break up the grey flooring space which is a large void in the centre of the room. I would do this with a little colour, maybe picking out from the wall or TV/media unit. This would then be finished off nicely with a small coffee table in the middle to break up the room and balance the other furniture. Maybe a small marble top with black legs (for definition) would work really well. Best of luck xx

I think if you are going to introduce coffee tables, perhaps at the sides of seating as I'm thinking if a large coffee table is in front of the settee it would hinder people walking through to the garden; kind of blocking and creating an obstacle course.

Rugs, cushions and throws are inexpensive and can be changed according to the season. I would have to mount the tv on the wall. Call me pedantic (so true - no apologies sorry), it is my own demon. You have done such a great job overall. Well done for a doer.

I think the room is looking great. I’m useless with colour but I’m seeing purple in your wallpaper and pink for the fire so would try to bring these colours in.

I would also add a lamp on the side table and bring in wood for warmth. If this table is too big there’s a smaller one. The only issue with a rug (ignore the one used it was just to help my poor photoshop skills 😂 ) is that the back sofa overlaps the hearth so a rug can’t sit under the feet. If this bothers you, you could layer rugs, could be sheepskins or round rugs etc or just have a small rug in front of the sofa facing the fire with a table on

It looks great! I would say some plants, a nice big cheese plant would bring it to life a bit, or a tall umbrella plant. My office is pretty sterile but the addition of some plants is what brings it to life. It would provide some connection with your outside space. Also, I find that lighting plays a big part in how a room feels. The colours you've used are really stylish and coordinated, so personally I'd be reluctant to start introducing lots of other colours to "the look" so a couple of big plants or maybe one big, one small might be the answer.

I agree with the comments about breaking the colour scheme above, and if I may add, for me furniture is different styles (the door, the sofa, the unit and the char clash in this space) and there are too many pieces of furniture for me. I’d put one, but larger sofa and loose the second one..but this is just a feeling I get from the pictures.
