Exterior help needed!

My partner and I are in the process of purchasing our first home together. The house we're buying has bags of potential, but is currently lacking curb appeal and i'm struggling to see how to transform it on a smallish budget.
The top half of the property is done in a pebbledash rendering that's been painted white. Ideally we'd look to take that off and get it back to its original brick but from research that can be costly. So, does anyone have any ideas on how we can spruce up the outside?
I've also attached a picture of the style we absolutely love - although if we're keeping the rendering on top, we might have to forgo the grey windows etc. as it could look a bit much...

Replacing the windows with wooden sash windows would improve the look.
Perhaps you can have look in the area to see how your front door/‘porch’ would have looked originally. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have been flush with the exterior wall but set back into the house.
And yes railings would look good too.

Comments (28)I really think you should consider timber. All WWA members have their windows tested against air and water leakage, so there won't be any problems there. They come factory-finished in any RAL colour and can be repainted (outside or inside) whenever you want. And the frames will last twice as long as plastic. Comments (23)I agree, converting the garage would improve the kerb appeal as you'd get a nice double frontage instead of a garage door staring at you. If you need to keep the garage then you could at least paint the door so it does contrast=stand out so much. Better planting to frame the front door + a new front door would be a massive improvement too. I wouldn't worry about grey windows, though - it is a bit of a fad and will soon fall out of favour just as brown Windows have. Comments (2)Hi Kusho1, I'd advise an Off-White as these are easier for upkeep compared to a Brilliant White exterior. Along with a Slate Grey for your exterior wood work, as this will work with the White window frames. Comments (17)Sorry to hear of your plight. What a wonderful person you sound. It's a great house, and what a garden. Just wondering if you could have a slightly different approach to the overall look of the outside, due to the lack of space width wise. Instead of keeping it a double fronted house, have the large entrance on the left and don't extend sideways. That gives you the large hallway you want, plus loads of room for a downstairs loo, walk in closet for coats and the Utility beyond. You could probably get a full height window in the front from floor to roof line where the Hallway is, such as in your first preferred picture. ( I don't have one the right colour, but you'll get the gist ) It goes without saying that this is a mammoth project and you must get a good architect on board. It will be a long build, and doubtless you would not be able to live there whilst the building work is going on, so alternative accommodation is also something to take in to consideration with your budget. You’re not quite on your own on that, Sonia, but it can look good on larger houses I feel.
This is one around the corner from me.
Re OP’s wall, can it be stripped of its paint/render perhaps? That way the original wall and pier(s) could be kept.
