Windows Building a Home Design Dilemma

picture window ventilation?

im thinking of having a picture window on my upstairs extension for our master bedroom however I'm unsure about if her how they open to allow for ventilation. what are peoples thoughts please?

We have a picture window that doesn’t open and a normal window that does in our bedroom.

thanks for replying. do the two windows work well?
these are our drawings and im not sure we could fit two windows in without losing the picture window effect. what do you think?

Are they not in an odd location for ventilation for the oven (too low), and for the dryer (too high). I would either re-do the windows, or just block them up. It's really easier to do that and put new correct sized holes where you need them... and probably cheapest to block them up and make new holes. I would re-make windows personally as more light the merrier.

Did you brick the window up or was it done before you had the house? Any reason why you can’t have a window in there again? Could be a mixture of things ie the extractor might not be powerful enough or in the right place to target all the moisture. The sub floor might not have any natural ventilation (do you have suspended wood flooring underneath it?) so no air is getting in/out which is making it smell musty.

Lots of places offer this sort of window but yes, you usually have a builder to build the frame of the seat to the house and then you buy the window itself. or you can buy a window as a single unit which we have done a few times in clients' designs - in which case there are several companies you can talk to. Including1st Folding Sliding Doors or Fabco Sanctury

I’m not sure of the depth up to the radiator but a sofa like this on legs won’t dominate. If you can find one in a similar tone or colour to the wall then it won’t stand out at all (if that‘s what you prefer). i’m not suggesting this one per se but maybe also a beanbag of sorts where the art is on the floor in the pic?

This is ours. It works well but both windows are on our longest wall. Not sure which wall you want yours on. Hope this gives an idea. The picture window is purely for light and view.
