HI Sarah I love what you have achieved. Many congrats for embracing what you have and creating something that totally enhances the placement of the fireplace. The space looks like it was made for the placement of that perfect chair and you've done a gorgeous job with your selection and placement of art . I am moving with considerable grief from my gorgeous arts and crafts bungalow to an early1970s small house. I have to say this style of architecture in NZ wasnt exactly a highlight. But I set myself a challange to embrace the architecture and look to enhance rather than fight it . That challenge shifted me off my despair track and now I am excited and hopeful and thinking about space and colour and the amazing light pouring in (a quality of houses of this time)..and textures . i feel so cteative in new and diffetent ways...and it's so exciting. seeing what you have achieved - it is very affirming for me I love what you have created.

For extra heat you can use a freestanding bio ethanol fireplace. They are very versatile and easy to fit without the need for a chimney or flue. They come in all different styles and shapes, so you can find log burner styles, like the one in the photo below. I think even a wall-mount bio ethanol fireplace could suit your space, they look modern and clean, and take up less space, as they are more compact and can simply hang on your empty wall. Hi Keswing, I had exactly the same problem with my hubby!!! Haha! The great thing with concept planners is they will pass their trade discounts onto you! We actually used Gina from Create Perfect on here (but she does exactly the same as OnePlan) who I would highly recommend and the fab thing was that even after her fees it saved us money because she passed on all the trade discounts! I highly recommend getting in touch with OnePlan and Create Perfect and getting quotes from both of them. If you ask them both to send you the list of companies they get trade discount with then you can show that to your hubby and knowing you're in the market for some serious spending on a kitchen and presumably a bit of new furniture then you'll be able to show it's cost neutral! :) We saved over £1,500 in our kitchen alone through Create Perfect getting us discounts with our chosen suppliers (probably worth noting that it doesn't limit your choices as the kitchen company we chose from her concept plan she'd never dealt with before but she set up a trade account just for us, the same for our underfloor heating and actual floor) Hope it helps and good luck!

Hi there, Adding a wood burner sounds like a great idea and by winter you will have a really nice cosy feel to the living room! In terms of which one you should go for, it all depends on what look you are trying to achieve and how you want the room to feel, modern or traditional? If you are definitely going to build a proper fireplace which is compliant with building regs etc. then a square burner will look more traditional inside the square especially with the wooden beam on top. If however you do prefer a modern look and want the wood burner to be the focal point and stand out piece in the living room, then a curved stove would be better suited. I would also advise to have the pipework visible too (see attached picture). This makes it look more modern than a square one, saves space and assuming you go for it black, it will really stand out against light coloured walls. You can then style it with modern log holders etc to make it look really chic! I have a traditional square wood burner and I absolutely love it, especially in winter its super cosy when its on.
