My Mamma always said to me... "Don't let the bed bugs bite".. I always thought it was rather sweet (not that we ever had any mind you!) till I saw an under the microscope look at what we cannot see, as you can see them....... New mattresses don't carry these bugs.. Only need to be wary if it's an old mattress... Still we have microscopic mites and things over our entire bodies our skin is teaming with microbes... not to mention inside them... like our gut... but they are good for us! (mostly) Even the follicle mite.... our lovely eye lashes are teaming with life.... Gosh I do hope you're not squeamish! It's rather fascinating really... (I hope) ; ) )

Hi Jophilip I've been pondering this all evening and this morning! I think to maximise the space and light you have to move the services (utility, wc) to the left hand side of the house. I would change the current downstairs bathroom to a cloakroom for all your storage needs. I would block off the wall in the sitting room to make this a more formal space to escape to in the evening. I think you would need to get rid of the wall on the right hand side and incorporate that narrow space into the kitchen. Then you can get the light into the middle of the house with velux windows. I'm just not sure with moving all that plumbing and the wall it would come within budget. Hopefully a pro will give some input, apologies for the crude drawing!

Can you post a layout , include where the window & door and also the radiator, which looks not to be under the window ( not helping ). Also, as you are keeping the furniture, could you include the sizes of those pieces too. I think Hague blue will look great, really restful in a bedroom too. Maybe you could change the handles on the furniture for slightly more old fashioned ones to tie in with the bed also.

Thank you both Ellie and Daisy. I was thinking the same Daisy - re costs for a designer. The ideas I have do involve moving some things from where they are though and I thought a designer may have some alternative suggestions. Then again any good kitchen co. would too I guess! I will make some calls and expect some 'not interested' responses but, as you say, there will be someone out there. I may do that in the end Ellie re the pics etc but to be honest I'm up to my eyes with other stuff at the moment and it would take me a long time to explain the full thing .... [possibly a couple of A4 pages long ... lol]. It''s not really what I don't like it's more a little move of a couple of things and some narrow vertical shelving for trays and storage jars that I asked the semi-cowboys to do. Looks fine from a distance but when you look closely it's a bit of a botch job and - although really handy and useful - it drives me insane when I look closely at how they've done it! I won't even start on the fact that I've just discovered my lovely slide n hide built in oven isn't installed/connected correctly so that will need to come out and have my trusted electrician make it safe. Since 2016 I've been using it too! Hob cooking for me until this gets sorted I think! Thanks again.
