Do you have a IKEA Pax? What would you recommend hinged or sliding doo
Comments (11)@Laura took the words right from underneath my fingers. I was going to ask the depth and width of the area where the shelves currently are. I've just had a PAX installed and I LOVE IT. My configuration is Two sets of 2 x 100cm wide (236cm H) units with the Harvik doors. I had them shortened as my ceiling didn't allow for the full height hence why I picked the easily hackable Harvik. The easy option is 4 x 75cm units with sliding doors of course. In one of my units, the inside was wallpapered and has a standard shelf which my monitor rests on and a pull out shelf directly below it that I use as a desk. I even have power in there so the cables are neat. the Pax really are an outstanding solution. A word of advice though to avoid extra expense and wasted time, especially if you are having someone install them; check them as soon as they arrive as the units can be damaged Good luck and pictures please :)...See MoreWhat would you do with this kitchen window?
Comments (16)Thanks Kitchen Republic! We did a couple of like that in our days of house building, but the support had to be under the join. However i'm sure the engineer knew what he was doing when he did the calcs! I wasn't confused over the pipe, i think that was Tanya. Still think it would have been great to have two sets of doors with one supporting column so that you can open out and see the whole garden, then continue the floor height outside for that inside / outside feel. Or, have had the plan the other way around, so that the bi-folds were on the 'living' side and the window in the kitchen, for a view straight through on the living side front to back. However, the window position where it is offers a great little corner for a seating area as per the Kitchen planner's picture. In answer to the original question:- Firstly check with Building Control, the window is in a kitchen and may have to open to be certified., or check with FENSA, ( or your glazing company, as they should know ). Secondly, have a 'pivot' window. This then does open, but is the single, unobstructed pane of glass that you would like!...See MoreWhat would you do to this new kitchen look less retro?!
Comments (18)Yes, the view was definitely a selling point!! It’s a very special building and a dream come true for us, so it’s important for me that I don’t screw up the interior decor. ........my sleepy bedtime head is thinking about pulling the cream oven out, replacing with the copper oven, painting the bottom units black (I never usually ‘do’ black), using a dark wood countertop and finishing with antiqued mirror splash back and a copper tap. Oh boy....these minor modifications are getting pretty major......See MoreL Shaped Kitchen/Lounge/Dining Room. Tiny Kitchen- what would you do?
Comments (3)I look at your pics and am not seeing your kitchen as disproportionately small. I do see that some rethinking of the shower/utility is needed to enable the removal of the entry to the shower room from the living zone. If the utility sink could be relocated, that wall could be an entry point. Using a slider would mean minimizing the space needed for a door, and would still allow for a cupboard there if you wanted. If you are feeling the kitchen needs some adjustment would an island, with access to storage cupboards on both sides, be worth considering? Leaving your major appliances in their current locations....See More- 5 years ago
