I just wanted to share my experience because I am on a non existent budget too. I saw a picture of a bench I loved, contacted the carpenter, and he has just made me a birch ply kitchen for a total of 1600 euros, including fitting. (600 labour, 400 fitting, 600 for materials). He has kept his price low for me because he likes the project. I am guaranteed to use him now to build wardrobes, boxes, and shelving solutions as and when I have budget. Sometimes talking to individuals who work for themselves/do it on the side can result in very cost-effective solutions! I am paying 300 euros for brushed stainless steel countertops, and got a belfast sink for 100 euro including the mixer tap. Will send u a pic when it's done but my almost dream kitchen has been possible for like 2000 euros (£1800?) I wouldn't shy away from painting the units yourself as there are many tutorials online to show you how, but it is labour-intensive and eggshell paint on cabinets = drips!! You could always just get white or raw cabinets for now, and paint later when you have some cash? Make sure you use quality brushes if you go this route. Nothing more annoying than little hairs sticking in your lovely paint :-/

I believe removing pebbledash can leave the wall damaged so you will probably need to cover it with something. I think a smooth render would look nice, either off white or a light blue would look good next to the stone house.

You could add a dado rail and put it a little higher than normal. Paint above and below. The benefit of the dado is that when you need to repaint because of scuff marks you need only paint the easier lower half as this is where the marks will inevitably be. Ps a cream cleaner will get rid of lots of marks on wipeable paints

These are some of the examples of my recent commissions: This Display unit is made entirely of a pre finished melamine coated wood called Ceramic Antrhacite, it either looks rusty or like a stone, it is very striking and a talking point in itself. The design is very clean with a row of doors on the bottom acting like a plinth, behind a couple of the doors is a drinks cabinet with lights and mirrors that are a surprise every time you open the doors. The shelves have random squares that are light to feature key pieces of art or pictures. This wardrobe was designed for a customer we have know for years who wanted to create more space for their growing collection of clothes. The interior is made of walnut melamine which gives a nice contrast to the modern outside. And the random squares have been created to add interest with pieces of art. Have a look at our profile!
