Rich tea biscuits, Gemma? For that kind of help I'd ask for at least some custard creams :)) To answer your query, Nick, I think white tile and grey grout look great. I tried to find a pic with some square tiles but didn't succeed - these days is subway tiles everywhere! How to achieve that... It would be great if Houzz team could find some skilled builders (wink, wink Gemma!) to come spend some time advising people. But I'm afraid all we've got so far are some (more or less) enthusiastic DIY-ers... Anyway, if you have a steady hand, try the grout pen. However, looking at your tile in the photo above, you can see the grout is quite gone, "hiding low" in between the tiles, so you could fill the spaces with grey grout, even if it's just a very thin layer - I think it will look better and last longer. I live in the Scottish Borders and three years ago there was a government incentive to externally insulate the houses. Due to the construction of the houses (poured concrete they couldn’t have cavity wall insulation ) . The difference to the heating bills is unbelievable but the look of the house is fabulous as there was new render put on new window sills and down pipes .i agree with the comment that just doing one house would stand out like a sore thumb but it just takes one to start the ball rolling . Maybe speak to your neighbours and they may want to do the same . All the houses in my street had the cladding and it has transformed the look of the street . I have since revamped my lounge and kitchen. There was nothing wrong with the kitchen cupboards so they where painted ,new work tops and sink . I did have a breakfast bar that took up a lot of room which I have replaced with a glass table . My next project is my bedroom which is getting refitted with new wardrobes and draws . Ex local authority houses are well built and have big rooms , they are worth buying as you can do so much with them ,I have bigger cupboards than the rooms that are in some new builds . This is my kitchen, it is so much lighter and more space . The back board is the same as the work top , so no tiles to grout .

I'm glad this question was posted a was something I considered asking myself. The thought of brushing teeth in earshot of the other is... ewww!, but quite right, a his and hers bathroom is the dream as who uses the room at the same time? If I could have my bathroom with a bath, and he has his own with a shower, I would. I'm gauging this on "women with makeup", and "men with stubble" as the key issues with couples as well as who is the tidiest. I love lots of sinks, even have one plumbed outside, double in the kitchen, plus one in the laundry, but in the bathroom I think it would be more of a show of appearance more than use. Maybe the second sink is far more practical actually in the dressing table in the bedroom or dressing room... an old idea but perhaps worth revisiting.
