Marks on taps - help!

Hi. I had brand new taps fitted about 6 months ago and also had a water softener fitted at the same time. The main reason for this was to supposedly keep all of the appliances such as the taps looking new and shiny. However some marks have formed on the taps and I can't get them off. They don't look like water marks and seem to be embedded within the metal.does anybody know what would cause
this and how I can get them off? Thx

I have one of those taps & it has a very slow flow, so I also have a normal hot/cold tap BUT there is a new instant hot water/distilled cold water tap that has the same flow as a normal hot/cold tap. Chloe yes I love wall mounted taps too, we are definitely getting wall mounted for bath but I don’t think we can for basin as it’s an external wall so unless a plumber can do something very clever we’d probably have to put some extra studwork in there which would reduce the width of the room which we can’t do unless we made the shower smaller than a 900x900 quadrant which we also don’t want to do! I love the crosswater brushed brass taps, but I can’t seem to find a tall basin mixer tap version of the range, and we need a tall mixer tap as we’d love a countertop basin. It’s so frustrating when the companies don’t do all the different types of tap for that range, some of them I find don’t do showerhead versions either so you can’t match it all up!...See MoreBest finishes for bathroom taps? Comments (3)It's not so much who makes them, but how they're made that matters. Don't buy anything other than quarter turn taps. These are a newer design and cut out the old fashioned washer approach. I'd look on Trust Pilot at the company selling them and see what others have said. I have recently had a year long battle with Franke after purchasing a very expensive sink, which is not fit for purpose. A lot of the companies these days hide behind the 'guaranteed against manufacturing defects for 5 years' etc..............however, this means that if you can't prove it was made incorrectly in the first place, then you'll have to bin it and start again. I would encourage you to read very carefully their small print. Had I looked on Trust Pilot and seen how bad the reviews were for Franke, I would have never purchased it. Comments (2)We have a Quooker Flex. Like you we used to have a spray tap in our old kitchen, which I thought I'd miss terribly, because I too used it all the time. Truth is we actually don't miss it at all - the benefits and ease of the boiler tap (with filtered water also) far outweigh the loss of the spray. What I would have missed more is the hose element of the tap. But the hose of the Quooker does a good enough job of rising down and also provides that essential long distance filling for buckets etc. which I find so useful and saved hefting full buckets and the like, in and out of the sink....See More

@queenbee - I used white vinegar spray and let it soak for an hour and then scrubbed. It got rid of a few marks but most are still there 😔
