I tested white porcelain with bright pink hair dye when I bought them for my kitchen and the dye just wiped off. In 7 years the white tiles have never stained. I've dropped a Le Crueset cast iron pan lid and the lid got damaged but not a mark on the tile. I've had some small chips at the edges when furniture has been moved over them but it is minimal damage and the furniture should have been lifted rather than scrapped across the floor. You can buy full bodied porcelain which where the colour of the tile is right throughout the whole tile and if you get chips, you should not see a variation in colour. I love porcelain and would not use ceramic after having it. The best place to go for it, is your local independent tile retailer, rather than the big stores like Topps and Tile Giant. Not all tilers are keen on fixing them it because they are harder to cut and drill than ceramics and they need diamond blades and bits which cost more. They are well worth the investment though.

I think it all depends on the look that you are going for - with these tiles, I too would be tempted to colour match as closely as you could, however it also depends on the style and wider context of the house. I have a Victorian house and old battered boards in our living room - they have gaps between the boards which effectively almost look black. When we did wood effect tiles in our en-suite, I bought similar coloured tiles and then used a dark anthracite grout to get the same effect as the living room. However the tiles you have chosen are a different style - they’re a lovely fresh contemporary wood effect compared to my old battered boards, so a more neutral colour that blends in would look fab!

LVT is generally fine up to 27 degrees with UFH but you’d need to check the relevant make etc. A warm stone effect could work particularly if you have the room to add accessories to bring in more warmth? I don’t think a chevron wood effect would give a nautical feel and the pattern gives the effect of texture. I think any wood would work though, just avoid accessorising with anything nautical if that’s not the look you want! Do you also want to avoid pattern in the shape of the tile as opposed to a print on the tile?
