Help needed - windows and doors

Hi guys,

Im really struggling to see the wood for the trees with our bungalow. We are due to have new doors and windows shortly, and I can’t stop changing my mind about design and colours. I thought I had settled on the below picture (with off white rendering, getting rid of the magnolia) but I’m so nervous to have white windows, but can’t really justify an additional 20 % for coloured frames! I’m so lost with it all 😅 I hate the red brick that we have and the feature it creates around the main door but aside from painting the brick, I’m not sure what else can be done as the cost of re-rendering is too unaffordable for us. Any suggestions/inspiration appreciated 😊🤩😊

I think the the painted brickwork in the middle photo looks good.

With the existing render painted in (off) white I’m sure white windows will look fine.

The existing ‘yellow‘ like magnolia doesn’t look too bad with the dark grey/ black though.

Have you already decided on the window frame design option?

Thanks for your advice 👍 This is my latest window frame design option but I’ve changed my mind so many times 🥴 i decided that if I was going to have white window frames, I wanted something more fancy I terms of design (eg the astragal bars) xx

We have a similarly sized window and after much research and deliberation opted for 3 x silentgliss roller blinds inside the window recess plus wave curtains. The blinds are in a translucent fabric to screen the sunlight and are electrically operated so there is no chain hanging down. They can be adjusted individually to suit where we need to screen the sun. We went for black fabric as surprisingly it is more translucent than white so we can still see out on a sunny day when the blinds are down. The curtain tracks are quite long so we can draw the curtains right back and they don't obstruct the door or block the view/light. We have a wonderful view and are not overlooked but find that much bare window is not comfortable feeling at night (just a big black shiny space!) so the unlined linen curtains make the room cozy and also provide acoustic softening which prevents the room being too 'echoey'. The wave tracks are great as with a big window you have a lot of curtain but they need less fabric than standard tracks so stack more compactly. Enjoy your home!

Thanks for your advice everyone. We thought about steps. The extension is 6m wide so I think instead of looking like a zoo it will be a theatre! It is worth considering though. We only want the deck as access to the garden really. Maybe no more than 2m. We will use the right hand side as a patio area. We didn't really want a deck but seems like it is the right solution to have folding doors straight out to the garden rather than having windows. If we had windows we wouldn't have to deal with this deck business!

Hope you don’t mind me saying this but I feel the (new) windows look a little ‘fussy’ and don’t seem to match the style of the doors and vice versa.

I agree with E D the middle pic looks really good!!

if your finding it expensive to paint the outside of the house and you really really hate it why don't you buy some paint and give it a go yourself? as you can see in the attached pic the contrast of black door and white house looks good 🤩

I think the new window frame option looks good too 👍🏼 or how about getting frames like the pic attached?? it would be 'less fussy' as E D says

Consider white door frames to tie the doors in with the windows. That's what I did with my anthracite grey front door. And lose the fussy bars in the windows. They go against the modern style of the doors.

I agree with ED, I don’t think the doors match with the windows. I personally wouldn’t also go with two matching doors as it’s not clear which is the front door. Ignore the colours and photoshop skills but I’ve added a more traditional door. The render colour was meant to be a stone colour with a red undertone but was the closest I could get!

Thanks for all your suggestions 🤩 I’ve managed to talk the hubby into grey windows throughout - I wasnt really a fan of the white windows and I was worried about the design. Hopefully our bungalow will look something like the below when we have had everything fitted and repainted:
