French window or sliding patio door kitchen dilemma?
Comments (12)Hi Mandy, thanks for taking the trouble to respond and for the photo. Love your garden, great that you can enjoy it so much. I think we're now fairly set on going for a sliding patio door, for the very reasons that you mention, that is the uninterrupted view without too many profiles in the way. We've been looking again today and saw a lovely one. We had a patio door in our previous property over twenty years ago but from what I saw today they're much nicer now. We already have a couple of French windows in other rooms but want the new kitchen to be more contemporary. The one we saw this afternoon was at a company called Clearview. The salesman assured us that their doors are the most secure (not sure if this is just a sales ploy or not). Either way I quite like the clear look of the sliding patio door so will have a good look around at other companies before we finally decide where to buy. Such a relief that one more decision has been made. Last week's trauma was finding a good brick match for the extension. Thanks again. So grateful for everyone's input here on Houzz....See MoreWindow dressing for patio door.
Comments (3)Hi Dawn, Love your new kitchen! We offer a system called PerfectFit, which allows blinds to sit inside the uPVC frames of windows or patio doors. They clip in neatly, without the need for drilling, and then become an integral part of the window, which means they won't flap about in the window. The frames are also super discreet, meaning you won't eclipse your lovely new doors. I've attached a couple of photos below which hopefully demonstrate this a little better. We offer Roller, Pleated and Venetian blinds in this system, which gives a lovely range of fabrics and slats. Hope this helps, Zoe...See MoreLots of doors in kitchen...how to dress
Comments (2)Hi Katrina, What a lovely open space you have created! It looks like you have enough space to have lightweight curtains on the doors, I can’t see the space the other side of each door but if there is room for hanging I would suggest a lightweight un-lined linen or cotton on a narrow pole - this will stop any glare but won’t feel too heavy or take away from the light you have created. It will also offer privacy at night. I would suggest a Roman blind in a similar fabric composition for the blind, but perhaps you could go for a stripe or pattern on the blind and plain textured curtains to add a bit of interest! If you would like any further help with your new space I offer one and two room low cost interior design services and specialise in new build/renovations. Alternatively I have telephone consultation availability currently if you wanted to discuss further :) You can check out my services online: www.katetilleydesign.com Kate...See MoreHow to dress French sliding doors
Comments (6)If you like curtains there are now ceiling mounted curtains (I have them) which are very modern and unfussy and if you use a very soft fabric will drape well. You could also have blinds that are ceiling fixed. A pull down or some liinen roman blinds could work well. You can also buy clear window film that blocks a large percentage of uv rays in summer but still allows light in. They use it in museums and art galleries to protect the exhibit's from sun damage....See MoreJonathan
