I want put vinyl planks over a vinyl tiles, but there are many tiles chipped or missed around a room next to walls. The tiles are 2mm thick. How I can refill such thin gap?

Does self levelling compound can be used with such thickness?

I dont want to remove this tiles.

Please advice

Take up the tiles, and don't be a lazy bugger

Take an hour or two to lift, easy job

Then pour levelling compound, ensure that you choose a compound that fills the height you need

Then you are future proofed

Best way to do it would be to remove the old ones, but if you don't want to do that the chipped ones will be okay to cover as long as they are no raised bits.

If whole tiles are missing, buy a pack of new tiles of the same size/type and use those to fill the gap. That will be less messy floor leveling compound and will probably work out cheaper.

Hi Jonathan, thanks for comment. But they didn’t leave enough space when putting bifolds in- there is only 25mm between concrete and bifold. So if 18mm of that is covering we only then have 7m for flooring- which isn’t enough for our plan for Quickstep. So now I’m frantically looking for thin flooring option but also just annoying that we have limited options and cannot have the flooring we wanted throughout the ground floor. Does it sound like builder mistake? Not sure why they wouldn’t have matched it level or left room for flooring company to do so. Thx

Cut the tiles at each doorway and fit threshold strips, then just remove the tiles in the one room. You'll need some form of threshold if your putting a new floor down as it will be at a different height to the rest of the house.
