Need some help on What colour Please - Please help
Comments (14)Greg think you have made a great start, just needs a few colourful statement pieces. Firstly the chest of drawers are fab, my suggestion if you like them would be to utilise them in the lounge either side of the radiator under the window, for storing what looks like cd's the other side of the fireplace in these. You could put the existing cubes either side of the two sofa's. I would ditch the rug in the lounge, and get something bold and bright such as cobalt blue with orange/yellow. In the bedroom, keep the IKEA drawers and paint them either black or dark blue and have them adjacent to each other on the back wall opposite the bed, with the TV on top as someone has already suggested. The art work is great, but would swap it over to where the mirror is and move that elsewhere. Again ditch the rug, maybe an animal skin would work well in here, keeping a masculine feel. Pick some of the colours from the artwork for a well chosen throw and cushions for the bed, and don't be afraid to use some other accessories such as vases, lamps and dare I say candles!...See MoreHelp please. Comments (13)I would use Farrow and Ball slipper Satin looking at your room and the cupboard colours and the floor colour all round. Will give you warmth, will be more modern than what you have as has a grey in it (but a very warm grey, not strong at all, a creamy greeny light grey depending on time of day), and won’t be harsh like the 3 colours you chose, they are very very strong and you may regret it. I hate to be a spoilsport but everyone I know who wanted to be different and used a very dark wall or colour on a normal semi style house ended up regretting and repainting. Slipper satin will look just right in my opinion being both safe but dark enough. Unless you had windows on 2 sides I wouldn’t go dark anywhere. Also, keep the window areas whiter, not bright white (that has blue in it), just regular white. Just my humble opinion based on looking at hundreds of show homes (and still not being happy with any) lol......See MoreLarge lounge/ diner wall colour help please.
Comments (7)I'm not a great fan of feature walls, but if that's something YOU like, go for it, it's your house! As for painting, again, I would say, whether it 'should' all be painted the same colour is neither here nor there, do youwant it all the same colour? Or are you keen to differentiate the two areas? Is one area lighter and brighter than the other? Could you perhaps paint the brighter part a darker version of the same colour and vice versa with a lighter paint in the less bright part of the room? What flooring are you going to have? That may influence your choice of all colours. Have a look at pictures on Houzz and work out what you like from those, that may help you make decisions for your decor....See MoreHelp me choose carpet colour please! Egyptian cotton walls...
Comments (4)You are quite right, it is the tone that needs to be similar, for example in the bedroom pic above the carpet is a lot lighter than the wall behind the bed, but much the same as the side walls. It works because they are just a similar colour, but lighter and darker. The herringbone stair carpet is darker, yes a similar tone. It just works. Hope that makes sense! I have Egyptian Cotton in my bedroom and hall, stairs and landing. I chose quite a colourful carpet on the stairs because I love colour, but that herringbone one is lovely!...See MoreTennis Boy
