Confused about composite decking

Hello, I really need some good advice about composite decking, which I am considering over slabs. I have been told the composite decking is not maintenance free, the panels are fastened together by a plastic clip. The panels could pop out of these clips so every now and then the decking needs to be checked. I also read about the panels bending over time and that they will eventually give way to rot.

I want something that is low - zero maintenance, any maintenance required should also be simple and easy.

Does anyone have any such experience with composite decking?

How long have you had it? do you recommend it?

I rejected composite decking for those very reasons. Also in America many people are suing Trek and other companies as it shows wear pretty quickly and then warps. It also doesn’t meet the guarantee period. I’m not saying don’t have it, but don’t believe the manufacturers waffle! I chose porcelain paving and Indian Sandstone in different areas of the garden. Of them all I like the sandstone best. it has a very natural finish and apart from a hose down every now and then it’s been pretty easy to look after. I found porcelain difficult to keep clean. Porcelain on lower patio, sandstone above steps.

Thank you for replying Sobi. It was from seeing your post that I checked the Endurance website out and contacted the local fitter but they said their Endurance doors start at £2,200 - £2,300 which is quite a difference from the quote you received! I will look at your suggestion. I have had a quote and someone measure for a Rockdoor and quotes for Solidor but am just so confused as to which is the best to opt for. I have read negative reviews that recently Rockdoors adhesive is failing and the local fitter for the Endurance door advised that they used to fit Solidor but had issues with damp or something getting into the top of the doors, but that was two plus years ago so might have improved since then, maybe.

They are nice however I'm not sure about yellow although the Indian yellow is quite nice and may look for yellowy greens. Minnie the lounge like the dining room is work in progress. Honey oak floors with plantation shutters and a fire which we are waiting to be installed. This will be a stone surround with pebble fire. The furniture is a 2 & 3 leather sofa with oak sideboard & unit. Again not sure of colours to bring together although I'm thinking a strong feature wall colour of teal or red; possibly wallpaper. Also loving a crystal light collection from John Lewis.

We’ve been doing a new part the garden ( had trees removed ) this summer and we have been looking at various types of decking ... Trex and Millboard have been the most expensive both around £7000 for 52m some suppliers haven’t come back to me ( given then a month to do so ) some places like B&Q had a lovely display of a taupe one I liked but none in stock or available to order ... the result is that we are probably going with either yellow Balu hardwood ( as have that elsewhere so it least it will match ) or softwood if I can get one that’s flat . The hardwood is about £3000 and the softwood seems to be coming in about half of that. Hope that helps a bit ??
