Red paint HELP!

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on red paint. I'm doing a geometric wall in my sons room and he was desperate for part of it to be bright red. I gave in, he's only 7 so I figured wheres the harm?! Turns out red paint is a nightmare to put on. I've done it the same way I did or bedroom. Cutting in around the edges then going over with the roller and it just won't dry smooth. You can see all the joins and roller marks. I've now done 2 coats. Any ideas how I can sort this out? I was thinking of doing just roller tomorrow without cutting in? Hope someone can help me! 😩

The edges do look darker, so I'd just do another roller coat like you suggested. I only tend to cut in around the edges for the first coat and they usually merge in with the second coat. Hope it works ☺️

Ditto - ie I do maybe one or two edge coats on the edge only depending on how well the paint is taking then just roller up to it. Otherwise the edges will always be darker 😬

Hello, I do agree with the comment above, it is a rather dark colour choice. I think the reason why it works so well in the photo of the other kitchen you've attached is because it is between two very light colours. With that being said it looks to me like the colour might be a very dark brown. If you're looking for a coloured backsplash I would suggest a pale grey/blue which would make you're lovely work surface and extractor hood pop and continue your lovely clean lined, modern kitchen. Because I had a maple kitchen with dark work top and red walls 17 years ago I feel this is a dated colour match. However I understand your desire to avoid it looking bland. Personally I would favour fresher cleaner colours now. How about instead of the red you choose a patterned wallpaper with a white background and fresh green pattern? You will have to choose one that is wipeable and put a glass splash back behind the hob.

If you want to update on a budget, then I think painting the walls will help. I think a darker shade would look good, say a coffee or taupe colour maybe? I would paint the shelf the same colour as the walls and then add a plant or two, one hanging down and one spreading up and out. The tiling limits the colour palate, are they pinkish with brown and beige mosaic border? If taupe is not for you, then white walls, wooden shelving and plants would look good. Here’s some ideas

Hi I would really appreciate any advice on your recommendations for a colour that goes with my red brick house(it’s not even a nice red brick !) It needs another coat. I would also remove the tape as soon as possible. It shouldn’t be left for the next day otherwise the tape can pull off some of the paint,
