Comments (43)Another tip for buying accessories (if trying to play it safe)..... you have probably noticed that in M&S your chosen accent colour has lots of similar items in matching shades but but they are different from the shades chosen by buyers in Next. This is a retail trick to make their store look more cohesive and you can take advantage for your own home....See MoreHelp with layout for chambre d'hote sitting room/dining room
Comments (3)It looks like the little kitchen area has now gone so I would create a booth style seating area in that space. The piano I would then put at an angle in the other nook facing into the room as a feature corner. The rest of the seating would then be in the main central area. I think ultimately this depends on the budget you now have to finish the room, whether lighting can be changed to incorporate some features and task lighting/pendants. Have you considered having a designer look at the space? I work remotely and include lighting, layout and accessorising in my PDF remote designs. As you already have the wall colour and flooring sorted this you would be surprised how affordable the price is :) best of luck. It's looking great so far....See MoreHow to design a good layout of the room for endless virtual meetings?
Comments (1)It partly depends on the shape and size of the room. In my previous study, it was small enough that the wall behind me was relatively close, and functioned almost like a background screen. I had it painted F&B Chinese Blue, with no pictures. The plain wall in a striking colour worked well, and kept the attention on me. I now have an office which is more rectangular, so there's a kind of tunnel effect behind me. The walls are white which I think intensifies the tunnel effect. It doesn't look great, and I think it will need some carefully chosen plants and floor lamps in the mid-to-foreground to break it up....See MoreNot sure how to decorate living room?
Comments (11)I think your curtains are great and will create a wonderful atmosphere in the evening. You could go for a dramatic dark scheme using the blue, either a real dark black blue or navy, which I think would still work with your neutral wood and soft furnishings. Am leaning towards using the dark over the lighter tones. The lighter tones in the curtains seem to have a gold tone coming out against the blue, you might be able to find shade which leans towards this with a sheen of gold or a sheen (?) for a lighter option. Hang one so you can see it fully and put up options on good size tester cards next to it to help make choices....See Moredave_rkg
