Hi, What a beautiful place! Makes me jealous! ^_^ What would you think about using a combination of 2 small ethnic side tables? One in wood to bring a warm touch and one metallic to compliment your tray and your metallic cushions? Attached are 2 from Maisons du Monde. And I think those would look gorgeous with this delicate floor lamp from Habitat... I agree with jwinnyc, it would be awkward to have them under the TV, but I think they would look perfect on the left side of your sofa. On the right side, what about 2 more baskets where you could put magazines, throws... ? The one you already have there is giving a lovely natural touch, but it feels a bit lonely. You could also add a medium sized plant..

I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! I am using chalk paint for my oversized wooden clocks and it can give an amazing look to a piece for wood: Giant Shabby Chic Wooden Wall Clock Contemporary Large Wooden Wall Clock Rustic Oversized Handmade Wall Clock Give it try before you get rid of them:) Anna

E D: on the curtain fabric I was thinking of something like velvet or similar but as you say cotton may fold better...I am going to a fabric shop tomorrow so will have a good look at what they've got. Sarah: thanks for your suggestion, really like your choice!! But yes something with a shade may be better for our room... Ribena: drape and pool is exactly what I was thinking off thanks!!! And it had passed through my mind to have some cream wooden slated blinds also so just have the curtains for dress. Minnie: liking your suggestions...still very keen on curtains tho. As we Have space it would probably work better as you say to move the bedsides away from the bed a little. Will do some experimenting!! Also love the chair idea!! Hadn't thought of that but definitely nice to have a chair in a guest room :-) Gina: thanks v much also, liking those lights! Definately needs to be something minimal as you say... I think you're right jessa61, about waiting. The thing is, as you said, you're not in the house yet. When you get in and the floors, walls are ready and the main sofa is in, then add to it. You may dislike what you have in your head as soon as you see it all in situ, you may not. I really like the last table you posted, it's great with the sofa, and, in truth, i actually really dislike all the thin framed marble top tables around at the moment. It's not a trend i'm on board with. I would definitely wait for the accent chairs. Chesterfields are beautiful and statement pieces, however, they can be uncomfortable to sit on for long, there's no upper body / neck support and you can't lounge on them. So, this is why i personally think they go very well with high backed armchairs. You lounge on the armchairs with your feet up on the footstools. Also, you say you want two footstools, which is great to go with the armchairs, but you sound like you want to sit on the sofa and have them in front of you, which will be difficult with a coffee table in the way. The footstools can stay with the armchairs and be occasional seating, yes, the chesterfield needs to sit with the coffee table in front of it, not footstools. I think the side tables are a good idea, i'm not sure about the height you need, i'd wait to see how you use the seating before deciding. The height may be irrelevant and you may not want lamps on them at all.
