I work in the biophilia ethos and when I look at your dining area it has these shades so these colours which are my designs of the paradise flower in a calm background.

This is lovely sized room with loads of potential! We have just redecorated our living room and I would suggest the following in order of priority: Remove picture rails (this is really fun with a big hammer and wedge!) Skim walls (most likely will be necessary after above) Skim ceiling (you won't regret doing this) Paint walls with brilliant white undercoat Change curtain rail or paint white Paint all woodwork with white gloss paint Paint or ideally hang a new white door and paint frame white Rip up carpet (do you know if it's floorboards underneath?) Sand floorboards and varnish Once these steps are done, I would recommend living in the room for a bit before making any further decisions. It will help with choice of colours and leave breathing room financially. Although, I would highly recommend a Flokati rug, they make a a room look lovely a snug!

Some great inspiration provided to you by the Houzz community, just to add to these for you: - A lovely decorative ceiling light piece, with a coffee table or large pouffe centred beneath it would enable you to create a central focal point and centre your main seating, side tables, rug and accessories into this area - Ways to add colour and texture would be: stone or tiled flooring, painted doors, planters in vivid contrasting colours, see image below Farrow and Ball 'drop cloth' on the walls brought to life by a simple vivid purple flower arrangement: - Or you can keep the walls and ceiling bright and light and utilise the accessories and furnishings (linen and cotton work beautifully within a country style interior) to showcase colour, textures, rugs. - Side tables are a must have as these can be easily moved throughout your space to accommodate your functional needs (see image above of texture marble effect small side reading table) - Use the areas of the walls to showcase wall art, pictures in a symmetry format so as not to overwhelm the beauty of the solid wood beams - Use the fireplace to house a mirror (to provide reflection) and your accessories in a scale organised manner (see above image) We hope these tips help with your interior project, please keep us posted - we would love to see the outcomes, thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage project Warmest and best wishes Team SPEAK
