Kitchen layout ideas?
Comments (11)Yes, much better :) I like the utility opening up from the kitchen. I agree with CWD about converting that window (EDIT: in the new utility room) into a door. Maybe a sliding door, if possible, to save space on the door swing. I also agree with generally converting existing doors into windows, and window into doors, where suitable. I also don't think it makes sense to keep the old larder/WC. The location and dimensions aren't practical and it interferes with getting an optimal kitchen. As for the hob, it isn't nearly as practical, clean, or safe, on the island as having it against the wall, especially given such a spacious kitchen! I might consider a "prep" sink on the island to get a comfortable Fridge->sink->hob work triangle, although two sinks require more plumbing and maintenance than one. The fireplace on the original plan, is that still there? Or are you planning to remove it? I do like how you positioned your dining table with the bench against the wall....See MoreKitchen layout ideas
Comments (7)What about layout options without reconfiguring any interior walls, other than the wall between the kitchen and downstairs WC? It would be good to see if there's a way of improving the kitchen layout without interfering with the rest of the downstairs, or at least doing so as little as possible. I'd thought about changing the back door and windows to rethink the kitchen layout. Possibly move the door through from the kitchen to the hallway (heading towards the WC) to somewhere else along that wall (where the cooker currently is) to give more chance of a run of wall units. Don't want to lose the downstairs WC but open to moving it, reconfiguring it, changing layout etc. There's just so many things to consider and we're trying to find a way of getting what we want without destroying half the house for the next 6 months 😂...See MoreNew extension with kitchen - we would love some kitchen layout ideas
Comments (14)Your extension looks great! Your layout has a nice open feel and good flow, but a few small tweaks might help: Fridge Placement – It feels a bit tucked away; moving it closer to the cooking area could improve efficiency. Island Seating – If space allows, making it deeper would create a more comfortable spot for family and guests. Storage – A pantry cupboard or extra drawers in the island could be useful for a family of four. Zoning – Different lighting or slight material changes can subtly separate the kitchen from dining/living spaces. Overall, it’s a solid design just some ideas to fine-tune it!...See MoreFamily kitchen layout ideas
Comments (5)I think you will be fine with the tall oven/microwave unit on the end of the run. With the 2 designs for the island if you opt for the T shape then nobody is sitting directly next to the hob which could be an advantage. The alternative shape sits someone close to it which is fine if the hob is not being used for food cooking that might create splashes....See More- 4 years ago
