Hi - Both colours belong to the Yellow Hue Family. Portland Stone Pale is both a little lighter & a little more neutral than School House White. But it also sits a little more anti-clockwise towards the Yellow-Red Hue Family, so by comparison may read slightly warmer with more possibility of peachiness to its warmth. That being said, because School House White is a little darker a a little more colourful, the extra bump of Chroma is likely what you need to bust through any tendency to shadow or gloom in the hallway & still read as a colour. Test both in the more shadowed areas as well as the light. Either can be prone to shifting purple-ish in certain imbalanced lighting situations, so see how they behave for you. Again, of the two, Portland Stone pale may be more inclined to shift.

Just wanted to say such a lovely hallway and I wouldn't say it's dark at all!!! Please don't counteract your dark feeling by painting it all light. It needs colour, what I'm not sure but it's going to be lovely!!
