I would be tempted to take the kitchen all the way across into the current Sitting Room which will give you access into the Conservatory and garden, but by doing this would it allow you sufficient space in the current Dining Room which would then be your Lounge?

If you make the kitchen/diner a big social area and have sofas in it and also perhaps in the Conservatory too then you could make the new lounge just an occassional room?

Thank you Daisy, I was wondering the same thing, thinking making the current dining room into a kind of grown up snug (we have a toddler so would be nice to have a child free space!)

There is also double a garage attached to the house, we were wondering about squaring up the kitchen by getting rid of all internal walls as much as possible, then moving the utility/wc into the garage, (probably only up to the garage window) perhaps having a door from the kitchen into the garage. Would this create a big enough kitchen and maybe solve the problem of this awkward shape? Thanks

Do you want the kitchen to be just a kitchen-diner or more of a family room with space for eating, sitting (& possibly for your toddler to play? If it’s the latter, I’d go through to the lounge (& poss still take out internal walls in kitchen). If it’s just as a kitchen-diner, the current space would prob be ok with internal walls removed.

Thank you, am quite tempted to open it all up, but have since realised that there is likely a chimney/fireplace in the wall leading into the sitting room, so I'm not sure if it's possible to knock this wall down- does anyone know more about this? Am guessing it's either not possible or would add a lot of cost. Thanks

SomI think what you say about the fireplace and the smoke outlet for the kitchen and the living room fireplace. If you tear it down, you would have to locate the smoke outlet in another area. You need to visualize your spaces, even without having renovated, I advise you to contact me and I will make you a 3D design.
