Help with pulling it all together
So we are nearing the end of our extension project thought still have lots of bits to do. We have done it all ourselves. I just can't get it to all tie together. It is a big south-facing room 6x6m with kitchen and dining room, all open plan. 1950's semi. We have Amtico Linen Weave flooring going in all through the downstairs (bargain ebay purchase!) a Ligne Roset Togo Sofa in Orange (mint Ebay purchase!). Wall bifold end and ceiling are white sidewalls are Chalk Dust in Dulux and the wall around the kitchen and dining room is F&B borrowed light but this could be changed. I want it bright funky and fun. I love our Le Creuset rainbow mugs and ramekins and would like it to feel a bit like that. I need cushions ( which I am really struggling with) and a rug suitable for underfloor heating and doormats, coffee table can go to, it's just a temp old one at the moment. We also need a big piece of art that goes on the big wall behind breakfast bar that could be dropped down to make a flat lay photography table, as we run a business from home and need to take product photos and I hate kneeling on the floor. I think as we have spent soo much time planning and actually building it during a pandemic and homeschooling and working we have run out of steam a bit. Still to go in kitchen, aluminium handrails, and white end panel on breakfast bar and hickory wood end panel on Oven side. Bookcase by bifolds is a wrongly made unit for the kitchen but would like to repurpose it. (guinea pigs live behind sofa!) The tub chair needs replacing with a statement chair, just leftover from another room. Needs to be a higher chair with arms as my older family members cant get out of the sofa! Would love to hear others ideas, as just really desperate to get it all done now. If you made it this far thank you for reading!

Comments (9)Okay, I´ve quickly tried some things out or you, that you may or may not like. But just to give you a visual and hopefully some ideas. I think that as long as you get the colours coming back, maybe in different strengths, it´ll all work together. The photo that you like is the Decorating Design Ideas one, I think? If you look closely, you'll see that black & white graphic patterns return, yellow, pink and turquoise too. And the wood and leather and gold are all warm tones that are close together.. Comments (9)Hi. We recently had to replace our garage door and bought a thermal one. Ours is from Hormann. It has made the garage much warmer and I am sure the room next to it. We only replaced the door as the last one broke but if we had realised the difference a thermal door would make, we would have replaced it long ago. Also it might be worth checking that your heating is sufficient for the size of your room. Fixing that would definitely be cheaper than extending....See More- 4 years ago

Firstly the kitchen and extension look amazing! The bifolds doors are such a great addition and the room is so lovely and bright - That sofa also looks amazing, not only the colour but looks like a great nap spot!
I threw this moodboard together to maybe give you some things to think about - i hope you like it!
I thought, from your comments about being bold and fun that I would go polar opposite to the beautiful red statement sofe and add some electric blue elements in the form of cushions and keep the tones of blue running through the rug and artwork detailing. Playing around with additioanl textures in the cushions will also add a modern bohemian vibe (if thats something you're after ofcourse!)
Adding warmer elements with a wooden coffee table to match what I think i can see in the background of one of the photos of the kitchen is part of the cabinetry that has a wood effect?
I also thought that the space on the wall in the kitchen would be a great place to add some open wood shelving to display your beautiful bright mugs!
I would suggest, if your budget allows to perhaps looks at getting a carpenter in to fit something to the wall in order for you to be able to pull down and make into a table - Prints and art works can be found on so many websites these days like Iamfy or Desenio!
I couldnt see much from the photos of the wall that the TV was on, but using a bright paint colour, either blue or in the photo something with a red hue could make a really colourful impact on an otherwise plain wall - Something fun and a bit different!
Although not added to the moodboard I would also consider a runner in the kitchen with some reds and blues to transition that colour from one space to the other?

4 years agoI would say there are two options.
First is to add other hues that are different to the sofa such as intense blues and even yellows. This would not look out of place with the red, black and white, think Bridget Riley or Hockney.
The second option is to allow the orange red sofa to be the main focus and stick to related but less intense hues. Orange looks fabulous with the rug below as it relates as the rug is less intense. Likewise, it looks amazing with the brown wall below that, as again, the wall colour intensifies the sofa, it's not fighting it.
I prefer the second option. I would look to the colours of the seventies when the sofa was designed and use analagous colours such as oranges, browns, mustards etc.
