Comments (44)HiTino Felly, Marie Here. Your off to a great start - but you've made a common mistake in that you've found your inspiration for your colour palette, but your not committing to it. You need to bring the greens and blues up onto the walls and onto the floor - commit to it. You could: - add a great throw rug underneath the bed, - add big table lamp beside the bed - or better yet, a wall sconce, - drapery isn't really the best choice for this bedding - I would have brought in a bold graphic print here, in either the blue or the green - artwork can stay neutral - even do a collection of mixed metals in chrome, gold, and have fun with that - if you add too much in the blue and green it becomes boring and un-special. Choose your accessories carefully, I'd change out your drapery - go with something bolder, I'd also get a larger night stand so you could put a proper table lamp there. Good Luck!...See MoreNeed help with understanding "green yellow"
Comments (5)Make yourself a coffee.... Analogous schemes are harmonious and easy on the eye. It means colours that are next to each other on the wheel. For example it could be yellow, green and blue. However there are millions of possibilities -so where to start?. One could be pure and the others could be 'muddy' or 'knocked back'. One could be very light in tone, one mid and one darker. Also they would vary in amounts. In my living room I have an analogous scheme (yellow, green, blue). The walls are a warm grey (neutral). The floor is oak (warm yellow tinge). The sofa is dirty olive (green). The cushions are mustard (yellow) and I have flashes of turquoise and teal (blue). If you want a more lively scheme you could go for a complementary scheme. This means colours that are on opposite sides of the wheel, thus creating a more stimulating effect. Buy some tubes of acrylic and experiment, it will open up a new world....See Morewhat is missing? after renovation
Comments (25)I think the room is most of the way there but for me there are a couple of hard elements that need softening and a couple of things that I think are not sitting so well. I think that the floor and sofa are quite hard looking. A rug under the dining table and a sofa throw could help. Personally I would choose bigger rugs to cover more floor as I think the colour is less contemporary than the rest of the room. I think a couple of oversized house plants could help too. In my opinion the overhead lighting is a little harsh and you should add some table and standard lights. Personally I would prefer to see curtains that match the front windows, behind the dining table. I would remove the picture rail that seems to circle only half the room. I also think that the cabinets would have more presence if against a darker coloured wall and wall mounted so the taller cabinets would be window height....See MoreWhat is my kitchen missing?
Comments (18)Wow, thankyou so much everyone for all your very helpful comments! Its given me lots of ideas and things to think about - will look into getting some colourful blinds, and am now thinking about getting that left wall painted another colour - Im thinking maybe a navy or teal....Also thinking of getting rid of the table and replacing it with a welsh dresser, again painted a different colour. Oh, yes, will replace the clock with a glass splashback (am even wondering about clear glass over a wall decal???) Oh, and the extractor fan...yeah, Ive had one before and never switched it on. So i didnt bother this time. Open windows work for me, beehives notwithstanding ;-)...See More- 4 years ago
