I can understand why you are leaning towards a sofa as it seems 'over' spacious with the table, especially when it is positioned length ways between the 2 doors.  It would be nice to have some casual seating. The only way i can think that you could do so is to think about changing from a rectangular table to a round table, which could be positioned more centrally to free up the wall under the picture. It would allow smother trafic flow than moving around edges. A legged minimal sofa might work there. Or maybe a pair of casual chairs, again minimal in design.

Yes it is, it’s storage space under the stairs.

The dimensions in meters are - for the dining area 4.73 x 3.90 And the kitchen area (from the back door) 3 x 3.80

I‘m wondering if its the fridge/ freezer that is causing the problem. if you could incorporate it into your kitchen area, perhaps by incorporating your outside store? if so then i think you could have a sofa against the stair wall and the table and bench seating infront of the understairs cupboard, you might even have space for an armchair in front of the french doors.

I think you’re right re space for chair next to the door as well. It will feel a lot more cosy / useful!

If you can shift the storage door to the hallway, katlucys idea may work but it will be tight.

Or this if you swap the patio doors for a window?

Wow, these designs are incredible. They really utilise the space to its potential. Never thought of switching the location of the kitchen - it frees up so much room for a whole seating area. Will speak to our builder! Thank you all for responding to my first ever post!
