Comments (3)There isn't room for a floor lamp, unfortunately, as I think this could look quite good. There are already wall lamps but they don't give off much light - more like a wall-wash, if you follow; so it needs something overhead as well. I'm changing the carpet for a lighter colour and painting the walls winter white instead of a deeper cream, which should also help....See MoreLighting issue for low ceiling with beams!

Comments (11)I agree, I think sometimes we all just put up a central light because the wiring is already there. Wall lights, floor lamps and table lamps create a great ambiance to a room.
