wall colour advice please
We have a north facing bedroom. It’s a rustic farmhouse. Large mullioned windows, exposed stone wall. One wall is plastered and currently painted white. Behind the bed is a painted brick wall - also white. I front of the bed we have a chimney breast in red brick and it’s plastered either side abs painted white. The ceiling is full of beams and pitched at one side. We have a new neutral carpet. A linen bed frame in a oatmeal colour. No other real colour in the room. I was thinking about a sage green perhaps? I’m just not entirely sure. It can look cold in this room. I don’t like dark colours or brights. More neutral and natural. Just not sure what to do in here!

Comments (9)Hi Annie How about carved wooden fretwork panels above the bed, see attached images. Maybe not as large as these, as you have large headboard. Also the room needs a few decorative touches, how about real or faux orchids on the bedside table. I would also suggest a large rug to warm the room up, and would suggest moving the sofa away from the window to the bottom of the bed, if it's the same width, or alternatively buy an upholstered ottoman the same width as bed. I can't really see what lighting you have, but it looks like the room could take a large statement chandelier? Comments (3)I’ve just had the same issue and I opted to get all walls plastered then sanded down to give completely smooth walls. They were then painted and the finish was excellent. I paid for tradesmen to do all of this as I wouldn’t have achieved such a quality finish....See MoreMarylee H

last monthLovely room. Funny but the walls look a warm white, but that may be my screen! You could add sage green cushions and a throw to pep it up a bit without painting. I have F&B Cromarty in my living room. It is quite cool but a lovely colour (first pic below).

last monthYou’re most welcome, Alex. Like you, I’m a fan of neutral schemes - Slipper Satin is one of my go-to colours - but I’ve often noticed how small pops of colour can lift such schemes. This one from a Cornish Beach House by Sims Hilditch is a good example. Imagine the room without the throw and the cushions and it would look quite bland.
