I’ve not used it myself, but when I worked at an animal shelter, the intake room was glass, so for privacy the maintenance guy used film on the glass. It looked really good and seemed to stay in place well. I’m afraid I don’t know which brand it was.

Thank you! I must say film gives many more options than the obscure glass I’ve seen, so it may be the way to go.

I’ve not used it either but have seen images of windows with it and it looks good. Reviews say it is easy to adhere so l would try one window first.

Same here, not used film personally, but when I worked in a housing association we used it and we’re really pleased with the result. It’s easy to apply, and we didn’t have any issues with peeling. Lots of options for patterns with film. I’d just say don’t go for the cheapest available. Angie

We used it several years ago on the windows of a conservatory. 

The conservatory had been installed by the previous owner. It was north facing and wasnt fit for purpose. However, it was useful as additional storage. We removed each double glazed unit and applied the film as per the instructions with the glass flat We took particular care to make sure all the air bubbles were removed ( used a sqeegie type tool used for window cleaning). We then replaced the unit. We were very pleased with the results. No peeling. No problems.

Thank you for your reply. It does seem that very careful application is needed - may be a little more tricky than the explanatory videos I’ve seen though.

It’s not difficult at all. You get it cut to size then follow the instructions.

The maintenance guy I worked with just applied it to the glass. He didn’t remove the pane of glass which was huge!

Following all your helpful comments, I am now reviewing taking out all the various existing obscure window panes (mostly small ones) for replacement with clear glass and having matching window film on all, including the new windows being installed.

Given the choice of film available this is really exciting!
