You say layout won't change but I hope you ditch that corner cabinet and the over the stove microwave for a proper range hood that's safer. Having an over a gas stove MW is an accident waiting to happen. :( As for the corner cabinet, you'd be better off with a cabinet that dies into the wall and keep the window wall open without uppers.

Additionally if you make all your lowers drawers, you'll be able to store so much more in them, including your everyday dishes. I did all drawers in my new build and now I'm sold on how much more functional and easy they are to use.

As for color, take a look at your wardrobe to give yourself an idea of what you lean towards. Is it the same as the colors in your house? If so, I'm guessing you won't tire of them in a few years.

Or have you consistantly throughout your adult life used these colors in your houses?

In the last 25 years, I realized I consistantly pick variations of the same couple of colors for my houses. The shades may change slightly but my houses have all been shades of tans, lighter greens and accents of reds.

Is your family room to the left of the dishwasher? Your dishwasher, sink, and range are well placed, but theres an argument that could be made for moving the fridge.

The microwave over stove actually on my list for the contractor. I don’t like it! Georgia they don’t vent them outside either! It’s an issue. I like idea of window wall just being open - maybe just open shelving.

Yes the room opens by dishwasher to a eat in area then family room. All one long big room.

If you are not working with annexperienced kitchen designer, I would suggest finding one! There are a lot of technical moving parts to a kitchen redo. Like adding the hood, duct, and make up air system for the exterior venting that you want, and how all those things tie in together with your aesthetics.

Then that's what you should do. If you love it and it works with colors you love and use throughout your house, it will stand the test of time. Now as I said above, post that 2D layout and we can help you maximize the space you have without moving the appliances. While the fridge is not ideal, it's a small enough kitchen that it will be fine.

With new cabinets, counters and flooring, you have an opportunity to fine tune your existing layout. I could imagine a nice stand alone hood over the range and upper cabinets only on the window wall with a tile backsplash all the way up the wall behind the hood.

I am sure you are anxious to get this started but investing a few more days in making good decisions will be well worth it in the long run

If you have a gas range and you don't have exterior ventilation, that has to be priority 1. You want full capture - the hood must nearly completely cover the range top. Gas fumes are extremely harmful to the respiratory system; the science on that is unimpeachable. I would advocate for switching to induction, but at a minimum if you keep gas get exterior venting, probably 600+ cfm. It's expensive to do, probably stops a lot of people. But it should be law, IMO. Will help your AC not work so hard in warm months.

Thank you all! The ventilation of gas stove is our number 1. We we’re quite surprised to find that when we moved here, Georgia code is surprisingly lacking. Another example is they have ventless fireplaces here, we’re from NY they are not allowed.
