Hi. The main problem with the hall is the flooring - which I guess you know from your comments on it. It's sucking the life out of it and making it appear smaller. Regarding storage I would go for a large wardrobe style piece in the corner where the unit it. Height for coats and low shelves for shoes. Beside it keep the plant. You may not notice it but the middle of the space isn't actually used that much so I would lose the bits and pieces around the edge of the room and go for a round table in the centre of the space with a stunning light above (in your homes style). This (once the floor is done) will look stunning, inviting and grand. On here is where I would put my key trey! :)

Yes I did look at these as would have gone for something like that for sure if I could only find a contemporary version that wasn’t frosted glass - if anyone has seen any please do shout! emily, a carpenter friend of ours suggested Louvre doors - it maybe an option. I think I’m so hung up on the nice grey glossy sliding wardrobe doors I wanted that anything else isn’t matching up! If only I could get a grey glossy door in that barn style the previous person posted about I’d be a happy bunny! Thanks ever so much for taking the time to give your ideas

Hi Kathy, I actually think you've got the potential to have a cute lil nook of an entrance. Of course changing the front door will help dramatically, think about having a pale blue door or other colour to make it lighter and more inviting. I'd change the wall light to a cooler lighter that doesn't create the yellow wash. Also, is that a hand-rail next to the stairs? I'd remove this as it gives the feel of the 'old peoples' home. You could then place some taller plants (possibly ferns) by the stairs to create more of an entrance way. If you're feeling a little magical, why not add some net fairy lights under the canopy (check they're suitable for outdoor use).
