We're considering compact laminate for our kitchen worktop and island. I'm particularly drawn to a new Magnet Kitchens one called Marmour Maximalist as it's striking, slim (12.5mm) and affordable - we may only be in this house for another 3-5 years - we'll then de downsizing as empty nesters !

They've told us that we can't have a waterfall feature on the island as it can't be mitred as you would with natural stone , presumably because of its white core.. However I then spotted one in their brochure in a waterfall island ! Admittedly , it wasn't a mitred joint but is still looked absolutley fine especially given the fact that it would probably save us £5k and it's a compromise I'd therefore be prepared to make ! However I still find it difficult to believe that it can't be mitred.

Has anyone tried this ?
