Hi Swiftrt, Because the wall is flush with the doorway on to your kitchen I would be hesitant to build this out too far with a boot rack or coat hooks etc. I like that you've made the most of the overhang from the kitchen alcove - this looks like your best bet for shoe storage. What about a slimline enclosed shoe cabinet here - something like: [Oslo Shoe Cabinet[(https://www.houzz.co.uk/products/oslo-shoe-cabinet-prvw-vr~87946990). For your coats, hats, scarves etc - a rack on the back of the front door or the small wall behind could be a solution. Now for the fun task - because the wall is the first thing that greets you when you arrive home, it should be welcoming and entirely personal. A photo wall - with the addition of some cute prints: Think your favourite city / films / book covers. Add some wall hung plants or a potted floor plant for some vibrancy. Sorry, I keep scrolling up and down to see the colours of the wood in your hallway and of the mirror. I think that it's worth a try, but I'm wondering whether a lighter wood, more like the floor, would be even better.

Hello Celia Reis, Lots to think about... It does not matter what you have but where you place it to make it work. And what is there that make the room become one (sounds very yoda ) :) How about putting the sofa by the window. The box where the sofa was. See what that looks like? The side table in between the sofa and the chair. Add some shelving to the alcoves. Re: photos There are lots of photo places that will make photos much larger for a portrait. Group pictures together on the shelf or on the side table. You do not need to space everything out. Some questions: 1.What colour are the walls ? 2.What colours do you like ? Is there a favourite material you like that can be made into a paint colour or made into some cushions. Then use the colour throughout as accents. 3. What items did you want to repurpose? What colour ? 4. Can the cabinet fit in the alcove? 5. Does the fireplace work? 6. Do you have any larger pictures, photos ? 7. Are both lamps the same size ? What are they to be the same colour ? 8. Will there be a TV in the room ? Some pics to help. Are there any elements in these pics that help? So change the placement of furniture like in the pictures. Hi, congrats on your first home together! I'm struggling to get my head round the floor plan. Is there really no access to the living room from the hall? Nor to the kitchen? I think the L lends itself well to a dining area up by the kitchen and cosier seating in the other part. You could be bold and use different colour schemes to denote the different areas (perhaps with the dining area continuing the colours/style of the kitchen so they feel connected?) or just your furniture, rugs and lighting to change the feel of the spaces. Is there a nice view out through the conservatory that you'll want to be facing? Might you like to fit a fireplace on the end (garage) wall to give a focal point to the sitting room? Are you bookcases and house plants people? Good luck!
