Hi Glen, The size and shape of your space is not dissimilar to many we refurbish, and you do have pleant of options. As "bubbles" suggests, Mereway, Trend (and many others) offer ranges of standalone and built in furniture which would be ideal for your needs. Do you have a budget in mind? If so, to have some insight into that would help to advise on how to get most bang for your buck. To give an idea of what I would recommend: - Remove existing suite and radiator. -Remove existing tiling, re-plasterboard and skim -Install a "Square P" (sometimes called L shape) bath of 850 x 1700, wide end at door end of room with new screen and shower. At "window end", box in from end of bath to wall, possibly with an open shelf unit above -replace flooring with either a good quality vinyl, palio-click or tile flooring -at window end of bathroom, install 600 wide vanity unit with rectangular basin on top on the left (next to boxed in section) with a "concealed cistern" and back to wall WC to the right of that, filled to the boxed in section on the right - see image below (sorry it is small and grainy) -fit a mirrored wall storage unit on the right hand wall above a modern, chrome towel rail/warmer Wrt tiling - I would be tempted to only tile in the bath "corner" with a small splashback of tiles behind the run of furniture along the window wall Colours and finish are always very personal, but I would be tempted by walnut and white with quite square fixtures & fittings (taps, showerhead, radiator etc.) to complement the clean lines of the furniture and bathroom. Hi Emma, a wide narrow garden is a difficult shape to deal with. It's harder to split into rooms than a long, narrow garden, but not impossible with some careful design. I love the idea of sinking things - trampolines, seating areas, etc as it give the garden more interest and makes it seem larger. Stepping down into a seating area also gives more privacy as you are lower. I designed this Bracknell, Berkshire garden which is wide and narrow by creating different spaces in the garden for different purposes - a breakfast terrace, a small outdoor kitchen, a dining area and a more informal seating area. The garden is useable by all members of the family including kids and dogs as well as grown ups. The garden is used predominantly for dining and parties. Here's the plan for that garden. I set the garden on the diagonal as it helps to distract attention away from the boundaries so that the garden seems larger. I also raised the borders as this gives visual interest and increases the perceived size and depth of the garden. Try using circular shapes in the garden if there's room as this also gives interest, focuses attention within the garden and creates the illusion of greater space.

Thank you for all your really helpful comments so far. My eyes are being opened to different thoughts and design ideas. I have loaded a few more photos from the day as it shows the light. The patio end is south facing bit we have a conservatory and some trees behind which reduces the light on the room. as you can see I do have lots of ornaments which I would want to keep and whilst I might have the odd piece to reflect the colour of the room I do t think this room is one to do from scratch and therefore a design idea needs to be around my bits. I have previously changed the botanical flower print as it was once another colour. As the room is long and thin it is quite hard to find an alternative layout which allows us to view the tv as well as entertain and see each other. Carolins I am loving all your ideas and today am going to visit a fabric design shop to see if I can get ideas there. I spend hours going through shop websites looking for cushions/ curtains / lamps as ideally I wouLd like ideas/links to products if possible. I am thinking of painting the wall a more neutral colour? Maybe something like Dimity from farrow and Ball, but from a cheaper supplier? please keep the ideas coming I am so grateful for all your help thank you so much! Planning officers often reject flat-roof extensions on bungalows because the new eaves sit higher than the original and make the addition look disconnected from the house, so one compromise that usually works is keeping the modern look but visually lowering the extension by using a very shallow pitched or “mono-pitch” roof (almost flat but technically pitched), setting the roof below or close to the original eaves, and using one main material with subtle contrast for example rendered walls to match the bungalow with brick used as a feature band or courtyard wall rather than the whole extension. another common trick is stepping the extension down in sections or using setbacks from the front elevation, which reduces the “bulk” the planners mentioned while still giving a Scandinavian/organic modern style with large glazing, timber accents, and flat-looking rooflines if you want to keep a true flat roof, you might also propose a parapet edge that hides the roof height and aligns visually with the existing eaves, which sometimes satisfies planners because the extension no longer appears taller or “jarring” in the street scene.
