Ideas for bathroom layout

Hi,

Please can you give me some ideas on how best to design my bathroom.

We would like to fit:

-free standing bathtub (this can also be fitted to the wall on one side)

- Hanging toilet (this must stay in that current position due to plumbing)

- Shower

- Sink

- mirror

- Storage cupboard (if possible to fit)

Size: 3.4m x 2m

Image is the layout I am playing around with.

I'm not sure that it is large enough for a bath and a freestanding shower. The 2m width will not allow a shower and a vanity with space to get to the bath. In this case I would put a shower over the bath but with a hand shower attachment. If you add an .800msq shower tray to your plan on the right hand side you will see the access issues. Consider changing the door to outward opening to gain more space and if the toilet has to be there then at least hand the door so that its not the first thing you see on opening. I like the bath under the window. Also not sure of the scale but unless it a very short bath you won't have anything like the gap you have shown either side as most baths are 1.75m which gives you 0.125m either side. I think you will have to build it in as you cannot clean a freestanding bath with so little clearance either side.

Ok, it's been a while and we've reduced the width of the window but I think this is the layout we're going to go with. There will be a 200mm bulk-head along the exterior wall to hide all pipes etc... which will also create a long shelf and enough room for a recessed shelf in the shower. The shower will have a single non-moving glass screen which we walk around to get into. One of the red matts is at the entrance to the shower. any feedback/criticism welcome.

I've been thinking about options to cover all basis and came up with this. To allow guests to use a bath/shower the ensuite would be shared. I added a wall in the master bedroom to divide it and add privacy so guests don't have to walk into the bedroom to get to the bath/shower. The upsides are that the ensuite is larger, includes a bath and shower and has more vanity room. Also, by diving the bedroom I can add sort of a walk-in wardrobe. The downsides are that there's only one bath/shower that has to be shared and guests have to walk through the walk-in wardrobe to get to it. Also, it reduces the size of the master bedroom but it's quite a long room anyway and it would cut out the light from the windows in the bedroom. Personally I don't see these as big problems but I guess some people won't like it. Do you think this is a good idea?

I don’t think the current plan would work well. The gap between shower & bath is too small to be useful & will just be awkward to clean. Plus the shower enclosure stocked out in the way of the sink. I’d put the shower on the opposite side where the toilet is now. Rotate the bath 90 degrees so that it’s along the wall & go for a short bath so you can put the toilet on the same wall.

I don’t think it works for several reasons. Freestanding bath sit best in the middle of a wall or window. I also think there is insufficient space to clean the floor around the bath, I think it will annoy you to splash the outside of the shower cubicle with bath water, it’s a pity to not be able to have a sink mirror because it’s got a window where the mirror would go. And I prefer not to see the WC first when entering a bathroom. You could substitute a panel bath for the freestanding one which would help because they take up less space but I I think you have to ask yourself where there is room for the dresser and whether the room would be easier to use with a replan
