Comments (19)Yep agree, it would be nicer to move in to a brand new house designed to our spec but unless we win the lottery this weekend that probably won't happen, haha! So this is the only way! Hopefully we will love it once it's all done. I'm just a bit OCD about tidiness and cleanliness so think I will drive my husband nuts! Cleaning up every five minutes!! It's literally not been touched in years, in fact most of it is original 1930s! Thanks again, it's such a great help, getting ideas from knowledgable and enthusiastic people on here....See MoreHelp / Advice on how best to change layout of bungalow
Comments (16)I totally get the following the sun idea -so agree the kitchen and dining area move to the right side of the house is a good one ! Also agree that laundry room only really needs access from hallway not kitchen in this instance. Also like storage and hot press opposite laundry - makes sense ! Think you might maybe want to consider a glass door from kitchen to the inner hall - to bring some day light into that area and to give access to kitchen without having to go through dining room... Also, with a bit of re jigging of the ensuite and laundry room sizes you might be able to turn your bed to face the patio ? ( install patio doors) And have a dressing area behind bed ? Morning sun might just get to that patio in time for breakfast alfresco in the summer ? This is the sort of project we often get call in to help with as we produce whole floor plans and perspectives etc ! And we go through similar process as on this thread - we enjoy a challenge too - just like you are finding !! There's something satisfying about taking a space and making it work better isn't there ! One last thing ... it's worth asking a contractor to take a look at the plumbing implications before you get too far into your project planning !...See More***Please Help - House ground floor layout change***
Comments (7)Hello Assia, If I was you I'd definitely look at hiring an interior designer/architect even to help you with this project. It sounds fairly major and you are best off getting someone who can spend the time it needs helping you to achieve what you want. Houzz has loads of interior designers, you can check out their reviews, get an idea of pricing and look at their previous projects before you decide to contact them. Many interior designers actually offer a FOC first meeting, so even if that's all you decide to do it may be worth getting someone to come and look at the house etc. Hope this helps!...See MoreChange of ground floor Layout, help
Comments (8)Hi Nana, once you have decided on a layout, we can provide you with a budget cost estimate. The budget cost estimate provides a detailed breakdown of works and expenses as well as highlighting potential areas where you can save money. If this is something of interest please send the plans and photos to hello@nestestimating.co.uk and we can provide you with a quote...See More- 2 years ago
