window dressing advice please!

Hello!!
I am looking for blind for the attached… my initial thought would be 4 Roman blinds (this is for a playroom). I initially wanted them to sit outside of the recess and above the frames to create more height to the windows… but I don’t know if this would look silly or not? Thoughts welcome!

2 years agoI wonder if four separate blinds would look a bit over fussy? I think one big pair of curtains over the whole lot would possibly look better, although there is a rad under the window. Or simple wooden slatted blinds per window. Will you actually use the window covering at night as it’s a play room?

Comments (9)Hiya, This looks like an exciting development for you - I bet you can't wait to get sorted! As for the windows and door, I think it's probably best to dress them separately as there is a sizeable gap between them: you don't want your room to feel like it is encompassed by blinds or curtains. Floor length curtains are a great way to achieve a sumptuous look, and as headers13 said, lots of people do feel short curtains feel unfinished. There are a few options I'd suggest. From what I can tell your windows and doors are uPVC. If this is the case, there is a system called PerfectFit available, where Venetian, Pleated or Roller blinds sit within a discreet frame, and literally clip into your windows with no need for drilling. You can even open your windows with them down, and they don't flap in the wind. This creates a really neat look, and will allow you to easy dress your windows and door separately. Of course, you might like to layer dress curtains over the top of the windows. Alternatively, two Roller or Roman blinds, one on each window, would finish the room off beautifully. There are loads of designs available, and you could have a separate one for your door. You could also go for a combination of blinds and curtains - perhaps curtains at the window for a sumptuous look, with a simple blind that won't get in the way too much at the door. Comments (7)Hi. Did you manage to look at their curtains? I think pattern for cushions is fine and plain linen curtains would look fab. I'm not sure if I preferred your previous layout (Although it may be the camera angle making the tv the focus!). Have you tried the chair next to the tv with maybe a floor lamp? The wall colour is meant to be something like F&B oval room blue or F&B suggest inchrya blue with your walls. Just thinking it brings the fire more into the focus? You could paint the unit the same colour and just varnish the mantel. If in budget I would consider a glass coffee table (with a shelf for books underneath) to complement your mirror and move your teal jars and flowers on there? Comments (1)Thermal curtains or blinds? Blinds 2 Go are great for made to measure Roman blinds and they do a thermal lining. I’ve got them in two of our bedrooms with similar sized windows. I also have thermal curtains in our main living room. I can recommend the Dunelm Jennings range. They come in a few colours and with a choice of pencil pleat (my favourite) or eyelet top.
