Shutters, blinds or long curtains. I think short curtains always look a bit unfinished. Does the door need a dressing ?

This looks like an exciting development for you - I bet you can't wait to get sorted!

As for the windows and door, I think it's probably best to dress them separately as there is a sizeable gap between them: you don't want your room to feel like it is encompassed by blinds or curtains.

Floor length curtains are a great way to achieve a sumptuous look, and as headers13 said, lots of people do feel short curtains feel unfinished. There are a few options I'd suggest.

From what I can tell your windows and doors are uPVC. If this is the case, there is a system called PerfectFit available, where Venetian, Pleated or Roller blinds sit within a discreet frame, and literally clip into your windows with no need for drilling. You can even open your windows with them down, and they don't flap in the wind. This creates a really neat look, and will allow you to easy dress your windows and door separately. Of course, you might like to layer dress curtains over the top of the windows.

Alternatively, two Roller or Roman blinds, one on each window, would finish the room off beautifully. There are loads of designs available, and you could have a separate one for your door.

You could also go for a combination of blinds and curtains - perhaps curtains at the window for a sumptuous look, with a simple blind that won't get in the way too much at the door.

Carolyn - I would dress all as the same. Depending on your style you could add an interesting fabric either a geometric design or simple floral. Excuse this image it was taken on my phone.

I think roman blinds or roller blinds on chain side winders would look best as you have deep window recesses.

Door: There's not much space on either side of your door for curtains. Ideally a curtain works well on a door for easy access in and out. In your case sliding away from the door handle and finishing to the left side, however in your image it looks like the start of a staircase, am I right? Curtains would get in the way. On the other side it would cover the light switch. Therefore either a roller blind or a roman blind on a chain would be the most practical and stylish.

we are hoping to create a little privacy for all rooms!

what looks like the beginning of the stairs is actually a under the stairs cupboard that is open , when closed , there is enough room there. Hard to tell often in pictures though!
