Empty Space
Comments (16)I think a house plant would look great in that corner, the space is large enough for you to fit a relatively decent sized plant that has some height. Alternatively a few rows of floating shelves to display books, candles, and interesting objects would look nice....See MoreWarmer alternative to Slipper Satin for kitchen-diner wall colour?
Comments (0)I have painted wooden kitchen units like this in green-grey (I think the colour is a match to F&B French Grey) http://www.benchmarxkitchens.co.uk/Kitchens/Kitchen-Ranges/Borrowdale and oak worktops, with a fairly tile effect floor. The kitchen is quite large and light, it faces South. I chose Slipper Satin, which in theory should look great. But it doesn't. It looks cold and rather unfriendly. I don't have many wall units (too many windows/doors etc) so there is quite a lot of empty wall space and the colour looks a bit clinical and insipid in that space (I have used it elsewhere with the same aspect and it looks great). We use the room a lot and I'd like it to feel like a welcoming family space. I think the wall colour needs to be a little darker and muddier if that makes sense.... I don't have time to get loads of testers so any recommendations would be great. So far I am pondering Old White or Bone by F&B or Welcome or any of the French Greys by Little Greene but I haven't used any of them before.......See MoreDecorating walls around TV + sideboard?
Comments (3)Years ago when I studied design one of the first things we were told to do was look at the whole room, where the natural light falls and use the space to make the most of this. This wall would look completely different depending on where the windows are so just to suggest painting it a dark colour may not be the best idea. What colour is the rest of the room? Also there is a radiator behind the sideboard, may be a problem when choosing paint, as this would have to be the same colour for a cohesive look. Is that a cat on the sideboard? I think you may have to look again at the room as a whole, if you are going to repaint the whole room stick with a feature colour to compliment the problem wall, don’t just waste your money guessing, buy some tester pots that match what you already have and you are happy with on the colour you have on the other walls. Good luck...See MoreEmpty stairwell space ideas
