About 8 years ago we knocked down our kitchen wall to our hall (more like a room than a hall) and put up oak french folding doors between the 2 rooms. At the time I opted for tiles in the kitchen and there was already wood effect LVT in the hall and other rooms throughout. We had to use quite a large and wide transition strip as the floor height difference is 15mm and the width is the width of a wall. It has always bugged me and I'm thinking of getting the tiles removed and lvt in the kitchen so that they are the same height so feels a bit more aesthetic. I can't get the lvt that's in the hall as it's discontinued and nowhere to be found so will go for a contrasting tile effect for the kitchen . My issue is the wall gap. I can either start the flooring in the kitchen over the wall gap so that it meets the hall floor with no transition (or.no obvious one) but that leaves the issue of whenever the doors are shut the kitchen floor showing by a few CMS into the hall or opt for another wide (but flat) transition piece. The french doors are almost always open and only get shut about once or twice a year but if I opt for a transition strip, it solves the issue of the kitchen floor showing but even though I've corrected the floor height level, my eyes may well be drawn to the wide transition strip as it is now. What would you do?
