We are building a new house and I’ve chosen the flooring, mid oak,a bit darker.. Can I use light timber kitchen cabinets with this ,can I mix the colours?? I would appreciate any thoughts on matter Thanks Jo
I'm not sure what you mean by light timber kitchen cabinets? Do you mean as light as plywood? I would try samples of the kitchen cabinet door together with floor samples. See if they work together first and try and find as many visual examples of what you are proposing as possible. Houzz has a million kitchen images but try other websites too and buy a few books or magazines. (Enki is full of wood examples) as you don't want to make an expensive mistake. I would say it depends on the tones of the wood and the style of the kitchen. If you provided a pic of the flooring at least you would get better advice.
I wonder if it would be a bit wood overload to have wooden units and a wooden floor? It could work if you keep the worktop and walls white. Wood doesn’t always have to match exactly. Here’s a few examples
Thanks for your comments,I really appreciate appreciate it I’m sure it will be fine ,but as Isla suggested,I need to be mindful of the colour, and I def will be having white( ish) benchtop to break it all Maybe make the back wall different from the return bench/island Or viceversa
A dark island always looks amazing. Maybe navy or black and I would have white worktops as you suggest. Think about the whole. Are you appliances concealed and what colour cooker were you planning? Hard to decide without seeing a pic or a layout. Mix and match also works really well with wood. Maybe keep your wall cabinets white too if you have any? Could look fantastic.
