Yes, I want a bigger kitchen with an island if possible where I can socialise with my family (I'm an empty nester) and friends.

Yes, the current kitchen has a door to the garden (the only door to the garden) but has a small window.

I forgot to also add that the dinning room has a big window (3/4), which gives me natural light and also there’s a dome opening (roof light) on the roof so it’s well-lit at the moment for dining and WFH.

Do you have a first floor plan as well? As in, the rear two rooms have none on top? Same for bathroom, do you know if any of these internal walls are loadbearing? Soil pipe location?

@ rinked, from the Zitplaats (telly room) to the keuken (actual kitchen) is the extension added before I bought the house (it's the usual 2up - 2down house).

About 3 years ago, I changed the smallest room on the 1st floor into a family bathroom and I'll also be adding very soon a small shower room in the eaves of the 2nd floor.

I'm not sure about the load bearing wall but I'll likely break down the entire structure (from the Zitplaats (telly room) to the keuken (actual kitchen)) and reconfigure the existing footprint hence the shout out for help.

@ rinked, It cut across the floor to the basement, where the evacuation pipe is located. Here attached is the picture of the 1st and 2nd floors.

Front to back sewage, that's nice. WC could go anywhere along the staircase wall, just not under stairs itself.

I gave it a go. From left to right: Lounge area. Satinated sliding doors towards office space. Transom windows above semi-tall kitchen units, preferably combined with rooflights, shown in blue. Kitchen 'island'*, perhaps with some stools, tall units and some extra worktop (coffee corner) along the hallway wall. Dining table and a yet to decorate stretch of wall, could place a sofa or add extra storage there, or simply add a mural, hang a bicycle, a plant, whatever floats your boat. Then at the rear your wc and utility.

(* since i have no idea which way your ceiling joists run, i've left in a column for RSJ support)

@ Rinked, I love this, thank you. Is it possible to move the WC to the end of the room as it's too close to comfort for me. Is that an opening/door from the dining room to the garden?

Ive kept the two reception rooms at the front separate as a lounge/diner with sliding glass doors but combined the rear rooms you marked in red as ‘telly room’ and ‘proposed kitchen diner’ 6490 x 5240 as the multi use room. you could swap the washroom cupboard near the stairs for a pantry and make the old kitchen the laundry/shower room, but if there are stairs leading down to the basement then you will need to jig my placements a bit.

You could phase the project, keeping the current kitchen whilst getting the structural work done, windows, any beams etc, then new kitchen, then second phase shower room and utility.pantry?
