Knocking through into part of the garage. The floor difference is only 30mm. Final plan is to tile it. Can anyone advice on the best way to damp proof and insulate such a thin space. Don't really want to dig it deaper.
I have had the same dilemma before. Is it level? Tiles are about 10mm thick (porcelain). You could use insulation boards up to 15mm thick. Allow a few mm for grout and thats your 30mm made up.
I boarded my kitchen floor with ply (12mm thick) to provide a good, steady base for my porcelain tiles. It was 14 years ago and all good so far. So 12mm ply, 10mm tile plus adhesive means you’re almost there?
