Quartz around window sides

We recently had builders installed new windows while we did our extension work. The quartz company came in for a template measurement and said that its possible to put quartz on window sill and sides but when we asked few people they said it should be fine on sill but cannot put on the sides due to the less gap between the window and wall.

Attaching pictures for reference.

We are now confused because:

1) If we have to remove the quartz from window wall sides we have to have a re- template appointment for which we need to pay and also delay in getting the worktop fitted

2) If we go with both window sills and sides , the builder said we won’t be able to remove glass if ever needed as it will be covered with quartz

Can the window be replaced from outside if ever needed in future without breaking the inside quartz lining around it?

note: the quartz is 20mm

@Oraanj interior design- thanks for your suggestions.
We were tilted towards first option of just going with sill after the builder told us about access but then we told the worktop company, they said it would need a re-template and we need to pay for it and plus they do not have a template date soon which is adding to the cost and delaying the works.

Hello everyone, Sorry that I didn't reply before. Believe or not, it's been almost 2 months without internet. I moved to the new flat and it is just amazing. I had a problem with the curtains, blinds, etc. I couldn't fit any of it because the rail would be where the door opens (ceiling), so I would loose over 40cm throughout the whole window. So I've choose something a bit unusual but very, very beautiful: duette blinds. About the furniture, we've decided to do a bar/shelve unit behind the sofa and the sofa will be looking toward the window (if you know what a mean). In front of the sofa, I will do a small tv unit. Therefore, I will not loose all the beautiful view that I've got. What do you think? Now I need to plan a bar/shelve unit behind the sofa. The designer gave me some ideas, but I found it very square-ish.... I really appreciate all the comments and the help. You all are good at it and have helped me a lot. I think the answer is, it depends... On what sort of cooking you do; how much pain you feel if you see a grease spot; what sort of things you want to put on the shelf and whether you will replace them often. Of course, you could just put glass doors, although the effect won't be the same. I applaud your choice of matt cabinet finish - super shiny finishes are such a pain to keep looking good.

Though a veneer may not fluctuate in size like real oak it will wear out far quicker than a window seat made of solid oak, a very long lasting material. I think the judgement you have to make is whether the surfaces of your window seat need to be that hard wearing, the jointing and edges will also have to be well detailed to achieve something that looks as good as solid oak.

I'd be more concerned with the garage at the front. It looks very imposing, Do you need a garage or could you put the play room and utility in there so instead of a bid metal door the front has some windows? Or could you bring the extension round to the edge of the garage so it all looks built together with one roof?

Is there an option to change and reduce the height of the sides. Which could may be potentially not require Re- template

Just an update , we have asked for re-templating now and will see if we can remove the window sides to be safe for any future changes to window.

The upstand of Quartz looks good behind worktops but unless your window is the same height as the worktop the upstands to each side are unnecessary.

Rather upstands are just stuck on so if you later needed them removing then it should be easy to do but personally I wouldn’t have them because it makes the space for a blind narrower
